Was steam down today?

Around 4:42 PM EET time I couldn't access my profile nor account details I asked my friend to check my account he said my name was numbers and I had no profile picture and that he couldnt access my acount either. I want to know if thats cuz of steam being down or was I getting hacked?

Wasn't down for me way out here in California and I've been on all day. Not even the "not connected" message happened.
I wonder if Valve can take steam offline regionally(thats probably something they should be able to do) for maintenance purposes.
Otherwise its just steam being steam. Sometimes they really mess it up and everyone is offline for maybe half an hour, except it seems to be a rolling outage when that happens. But that hasn't seemed to happen today.

Have they returned now? It was not down for me, but it sounds like a server problem. I can see your profile picture. Take a look to the login history going to: support - account data - recent login history and check that everything is fine.

Yeah they have returned by themsleves I didn't need to change them back and my login history it says my location.

Sounds like a server hiccup, and not all hiccups will affect everything or everyone at once. Not to mention packet loss can also cause issues.

If something happens, just be patient and wait a minute.

Let's keep in mind that Steam utilizes servers and CDNs located in many different regions, and that a failure can sometimes affect only one or a few regions.
