Anyways if u think the game is worth buying. Just buy it. If we keep looking at every single steam reviews we might as well not buy anything.
or deceiving customers in some way....
a good game is a good game...
It really is on the reviewer to justify their critique of the usage of assets.
Some see it as an indication of a quick cash grab, an indicator of a lack of effort going into a sequel. Essentially charging the full price of a new game for DLC or "episodic content".
Tears of the Kingdom is probably a worthy discussion point. Even more so Majora's Mask, which heavily reused assets from Ocarina of Time. Then there is Minecraft which is a game about reusing assets in creative ways.
I kind of agree that there is a lack of respect and courtesy awarded from behind a keyboard. I've happened across people criticizing developers for not publishing "skins" or other DLC after a game has been released. Using "abandoned" to described games that have been released. It now has a GOTY Edition, that means it has been abandoned.
On the reusing assets thing, either I care or I don't. Simple as that.
Thief 2 exists.
Gothic 2 exists.
Fallout 2 exists.
Fallout New Vegas exists.
All great games. Reused assets don't dictate a game's quality.
The review gives the details THAT user feels are important, and other users who share that concern can thusly make a decision based on that information. If the review doesnt address things that concern you then it isn't "for" you.
Not every subjective opinion will be "about" you
Majora's freaking Mask...
Maybe it comes from spawning in for first gen consoles. Sears Telstar ftw...
There is a difference between re-using assets and an asset flip game though which people might be confused on.
As an example, Idea Factory and Compile Heart are well known for reusing enemies across many of their games.
Yakuza games also reuse assets, but they're still great games (I think Kiwami kinda suffers for it though).
