Why is a racist and sexist epithet allowed to be used on this forum?

Several days ago, as is common, a major argument was ensuing. After a point, people on one side began referring to their opponent, and those who agree with their opponent, as "karens". Now, first off, I thought namecalling was against the rules on this forum, so I reported them, yet nothing happened. I've somewhat come to expect as there appear to be two tiers of enforcement here: those who get bans even when not breaking any rules, and those who don't get bans even when breaking the rules.

More to the point, however, I brought the fact that "karen" is a racist and sexist epithet to the attention of the users slinging it, specifically referring to white women. All of them said "that's not true", and argued repeatedly that "karen" had no such meaning. So, I posted one of the most universal internet resources on the word:

Karen is a pejorative term used as slang for a middle-class white woman perceived as entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is normal.

Result? My post was deleted and I was banned. Despite reports, nothing was done to any of the users or comments using "karen", either for using a bigoted epithet, or for namecalling. I once jokingly said "speak english, boah" in response to someone I was talking with and received a ban for discrimination. But no such rules appear to apply to this particular slur. Once again, that two-tier set of rules reared its ugly head. The rules are enforced entirely arbitrarily.

You're right, i remember him. But i suppose that's how folks circumvent these bans. Just go to another tag with a VPN or something. Maybe that's why nobody cares about bans anymore. Stupid me. I should do that and go to a site and give them the trollin of their natural born lives lol. After all, i likely set the record by now. What's the harm?

Username changes and VPN can't bypass a forum ban on Steam, the ban is tied to the account itself...to bypass a ban on the forums here, you gotta go on another account entirely. And 10 to 1, Steam will still know it's you.

I have 2 accounts, one I stream on/play CSGO on, and this one. I don't post on the forums on my other account.

I wouldn't mind Steam cracking down on alt accounts, but it'd be hard to prove it's an alt, and not just a family shared pc or a public PC like from an internet cafe.

None of us here are using alt accounts to circumvent bans. Can't say anything about VPNs since I use one almost 24/7.

Careful. I got banned for pointing out someone doing the multiple-account forum thing, and they still hold a grudge about it to this day. Again: calling out the toxic behavior just elicits more toxicity from said people. It would be nice if mods would restore some actual equality through appropriate enforcement.

But this is why nobody cares dude. I made a point idc being they ban you anyway, for anything. So you may as well get banned for a reason.

I called you a name, and should be a rightful ban. But i can guarantee, the ban will be for something totally different, and assinine.

But folks must be laughing at these "ban" comments and crying over it, being all they do is start another account.

Wikipedia is not a good source for anything, they allow anyone to create and edit pages there, I could make a page about how Steam discussions is full of baboons in actual zoos writting Half-life 3 and they'd still post it. Never take anything Wikipedia says as fact as 99% of the time they can't get their own facts correct

It's not what I think; it's common knowledge according to numerous mainstream information sources. You, like many others, seem to be rationalizing the use of racist and sexist language because you prefer the rules not apply in this instance. It's pretty disappointing, but not unexpected given the state of this forum.

Gigachad is a compliment, not a slur. Sigma also has positive, rather than negative connotation, so both aren't comparable. Simp is a negative slur and should be subject to the same rules about namecalling. You're trying to make this about memes and not about the root meanings of words.
