steam upload limits

just noticed that steam has reduced the artwork upload limit from 8mb to 5mb

seriously are u dumb? why??? you let us upload gifs and its really useful for a nice artwork showcase

but with those limits you can literally do almost nothing... just why steam?! i seriously want a explanation for this ESPECIALLY because we got an account limit of 2gb storage.

why can we upload a screenshot of literally any size, but get a forced limit for artworks while having a global account limit???

this is just absurd.

Unlimited accounts have 18.6GB of cloud storage for artwork/screenshots.

nope, i still have only 2gb and i spent more than $500 already on steam

As for the individual filesize of each piece of artwork, it's Valve's system, they can set it to whatever they want. And personally I'd be fine if they reduced it by 1KB every time someone complained.

You definitely don't have a limited account. Initiate an upload and it will tell you how much you are going to use for the upload and how much is left.

Even if Steam did have the capacity to handle it, why should they cater to poor optimization?

i think some games get like 1gb savefiles uploaded and its not that easy to manage steam cloud saves, which in my mind at least needs a delete or expiration date on unused storage, ie a game i played 10 years ago still got some saves stored even though i never ever opened it after it.

Cloud saves aren't part of your upload limit for artworks and screenshots.

i think for me personally it would be better if i could control all my personal data, not just what developers allow me to control, ie artwork is fine that we can delete what we post, but in case of savegames a reason is not really there because people can still erase data via account deletion which is a monetary penalty for a simple data erase, it fuels a lot of trolling by people that get access to this data, i have no idea what was going on in my life 10 years ago but i think there are plenty of people that just like find nitpicks to exploit as i never seen a relevant thing brought up in those data mines, its like totally a toxic cycle where you get triggered by a thing which someone got access to and then you get a way of these reactions to what people keep bringing up, howerrver irrelvant it is creating drama out of nothing. ie if i get a new clean account 99 percent of this would stop of me and them going at each other. same anywhere else, its just fuels toxicity and not just about"privacy" which is a mediocre way to describe it.

ie to me its more of instrument of manipulation that a usefull feature when your data is stored somewhere forever and anyone gets access to it if they choose to use it somehow.
