forgot my username and password for account
I made an account 2 years ago, I know the id but do not remember the password for it. I want to trade my items to my account. Is there a way i can get access to it?

Use the guide shared by Satoru if you forgot password and email.

You can skip locking your account.

Do you have any proof of ownership?

I used the account in the same IP address as the one I’m using now and one of my friends on the account is mutual

This is a perfect example of how fallible human memory is, and why one should be using a password manager religiously. After all the faintest ink is worth more than the sharpest memory, the saying goes.

And it's a lot easier to look up (seldom used) accounts in your password manager than it is to try and go through a complicated recovery process and prove ownership, especially when you don't have enough details about the account to recover it on your own.

There's lots of options for managing passwords and account details. The more you properly manage accounts, the easier it gets.
They can’t check the IP address the account was used and made in?

99% of ips are dynamic

there is very little chance your ip is static and they're usually paid

I'm afraid that this is not sufficient proof.

How about if I know the sign in name, not username the name you use to sign in

Why do you want to trade your items to that account anyway?

I think they’re worth a few bucks anyway why wouldn’t you want your stuff from your alt to your main account if you don’t use it

I was just asking because there is a scam going around where the victim is scared into trading their items away.

Just start the account recovery and talk to Steam Support.
