Can i redeem a Digital copy of a game i purchased on a disc
Year ago i purchased Dawn of War 2 Retribution on disc after purchasing the other two...
I have re got back into Steam and managed to get the two prior games up and running, but the third i have a disc and a cd key..but wondering is there a way to put in your cd key to obtain a digital copy now i have a pc without a cd drive.

I'm pretty sure you'd have to contact the distributor of the media.or even the devs themselves and prove your purchase and ownership. Most are okay with providing you with a steam key

yup... you see the list of games in your library... at the bottom of that list there is an "Add Game" button... I wonder what that might be doing... why don't you find out and tell the rest of us...

How do i determine who the distributor is/was or who of the devs i speak to ,to ask about this.. i don't want to accidently speak to a hacker who then can get hold of my cd key. and thanks for the reply.

Ok. so you can go down to Add a Game and ,you have to agree to something,then it gives you a spot to put in your cd key. but it wont allow me to put my cd key in it.?

Is a Product code the same as a Cd Key? If it's not where do i find the game product code to presumably move onto the Cd key entry and have it hopefully work....

I went to Add a Game,just agreed to the legal doco, next came up a place for the cd key,which didnt function as first,but then did.. i put my cdkey it and it verified it.. and put it on my account.

Not always, sometimes if a game used Steam as its DRM the key would activate in Steam, but sometimes it was just a key used by the game itself.

If Steam isn't accepting it then it's not a valid key as far as Steam's concerned so you won't be able to get a copy on Steam with it.
