If you despite this warning buys it to support the developers, you've made a choice and are bound by it.
If you don't want to accept those terms, don't buy it before you've seen the completed product. Simple.
Secondly do AAA games not have missing features or where developers make wild promises which do not make the final game? Yes, those games exist. Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem to name two.
Also, Kickstarter is upfront that any goods promised during a campaign are not guaranteed. When you pledge for a KS campaign, you are providing financial support for the KS creator's project. It's not a marketplace.
With how saturated and tainted the Kickstarter market is, you won't make anything.
Also, Kickstarter can(and have before) shut down campaigns with enough evidence and refunded the money.
Thats between the developer and kickstarter. Steam has nothing to do with the promises made on other people's platforms.
In all honesty, I kinda wish they did. But I know it's impossible and irrational.
I only say so due to a game that I bought in EA that was funded by a Kickstarter that got 'released' with a bunch of features missing. The devs even gave the code to a modding group to continue development.
Luckily, it was only $20.
Yeah but that would be a can of worms that Steam would be hard pressed to deal with. I mean if steam refuses to release the game then that can be objectively worse as then the kickstarters can't get the game they were promised....
Especially as not everyone is in agreement over changes or feature adjustments.
