"special offers" on steam front page
I don't like that the "special offers" will show you games that you specifically told steam not to show you. . lkke games with user tags that you filtered out.

even if you go to the game's store page and click "ignore", it still shows you that game.

i assume that people paid valve money to have their game featured at the top and have it bypass the filters. . and at that point, why have filters at all?

i mean, yeah, it filters any game that hasn't paid to bypass the filters, so i guess the filters to have a point?

Ignore only works for personalised pages, mainly searches and the like. Parts of the front page are not personalised areas.

Valve puts games there they think fit the region. They don't get paid by devs/publishers to show up there.

Steamworks documentation FAQs states that developers cannot pay Valve to make Steam show their games to more Steam users.
Q. How can I get my game to show up to more customers?
A. Steam automatically shows games to customers in different ways and many different places. The visibility of any given game on Steam is based on many factors, including how customers are reacting to that product, and who the potential audience is for that product. Not every customer is interested in every game, so Steam works to figure out who your game should be recommended to and who is most likely to purchase your game.

Q. Does this change how I release my game?
A. The release process for you is still the same, but now your game may be able to appear in more places throughout Steam. You focus on making an awesome game and describe it accurately to customers on your store page and Steam will work to show your game in appropriate places based on customers’ interests, preferences, and feedback.

Keep in mind that you still need to make sure you get word out about your game as you lead up to your release date. Get the community excited and build an audience. Put up a 'coming soon' page, and post announcements. Some customers may need to see your game dozens of times before it catches their attention.

Q. Can I pay for my game to show up to more customers?
A. Nope. You focus on making a compelling, interesting, and unique game, and Steam will work out the best places to feature your game based on customers’ interests, preferences, and feedback.

Not everything on the main store page can be customized.

Q: Sometimes I see blurred out games on my Store front page. Why is that?

A: There are a number of sections on the front page that we fill with games, and to ensure the servers behind it don't melt down as everyone tries to use it, we do a lot of data caching. This works great for data sets that we can easily pre-compute - so if there's a game you shouldn't see due to your mature content filters, you'll never see it on the front page. But if you've chosen to do some more personal filtering of particular developers, or specific games, we can't do that pre-computation as easily. As a result, it's possible you'll see a blurred out game on the front page because your personal filters should cause it to be hidden. In practice, though, this will only happen if you've filtered out so many games that it can't find enough to fill a section of the front page, and again, like the search results, we'll blur that game out and tell you why.

Blocks titles from showing up when you search, not from the banners and displays on the store

well, here's the thing. i just tested it. picked a couple of games from the fromt page i had no interest in and hit "ignore" and they disappeared from my front page, but this one game "idle champions of the forgotten realms" just stays on the front page , even though I clicked "ignore". apparently, that one game is getting special immunity from the ignore button.
i dunno, maybe it's a microtransactions game and someone's making profits off of it being there. . .

Valve does not sell ad space on Steam.

The front pages pull from a randomized list of games each time, the pool can change, and sometimes you will see the same game there several times

The search in this store is a bit confusing for me, I'm still learning how to use it, many times the tags are wrong.
I love how so many users are quoting rules and policy as if that means anything. Of course they sell ad space; the proof is in the results. Open your eyes.
