Upgrading to better edition of a game...
Some games do have that option, but many do not...

I am talking about standard and deluxe/premium editions, there are games like Dead Space Remake which is worth on Steam 60€ and Deluxe edition is worth 70€, if you are not sure whether you want to spend 10€ more in order to get the Deluxe, you just buy the 60€ right ? but if you decide later that you want to upgrade to deluxe edition and get all the bonuses, you can do it by buying the "Deluxe Edition Upgrade" for 10€ in the DLC tab.

But many games like Starfield, Red Dead Redemption 2, Elden Ring, Armored Core 6, and much more, do not have that option to upgrade the edition for the price difference between standard and deluxe version of the game, to the higher edition. Which is quite stupid because some of those games do not even have an option to buy the bonuses one by one in the DLC tab for example.

I am not sure if Steam can do anything about this, it's probably the developer's choice or I don't know, but I would be very happy if this is a thing in all of the games which offer Standard as well as any other higher and more expensive editions.

If you got a Starfield standard and you want to upgrade to the higher edition, you either have to refund it or just cope with it, which is pretty stupid in my opinion.

That's entirely up to the developers/publishers, correct. Some simply don't want to offer it.

But it's nonsense you know :D

Why not do it, they would make much more people happy in my opinion, especially if we are talking about a game like Starfield with 5 days early access...

You should ask the publishers that question.
