Why do people prefer Porsche over Ferrari?

People simply have preferences. And they don't have to align with yours.
Why would Steam and Riot even enter in any kind of competition?
You know, launching an MMO and making the best kind of promotional videos to promote League of Legends (and their new incoming MMO based of the lore of it) which is still kicking as hard as ever...

So basically they're the latest hype merchant that 'journalists' are latching onto.

They also got tarred and feathered a few years back over some internal issues, sexual harassment, nepotism, etc, etc.
But I'm not recognising the "they're very hot in media lately" at all, so that's why I asked about it.
Riot working on a LOL MMO is something I've heard about 1-2 years ago. I think it's slated for 2025 or so.
