I regret ultrawide monitor
I swear this thing brought more trouble with most games in my library not supporting Ultrawide or have some awful bandaid like black bars on the side for it. I have to research some new way to fix my screen with every game it's tiresome.
You would think that in 2023 that this would be basic fix for companies.

Ultrawide is still a niche subset of computing, even more so in gaming. 16:9 and 16:10 is widespread so it gets most of the support and design consideration.

You have to accept pillarbox sometimes with Ultrawide. Even on games with support, sometimes certain elements like cinematics are boxed.

But, if you were using 16:9, you'd only be seeing what's in the box anyway. Unless you would have gotten higher refresh, or 4K, what do you miss? It's not perfect but I would not like to go back to 16:9

I would say 16:10 is more niche than 21:9.

If you use a non standard product don’t be shocked when not everyone supports your non standard setup. I had a 1600x1200 samsung monitor for ages. It was great. But many and most games would have issues rendering on 4:3 monitors. It wasn’t worth the hassle anymore.

Supporting a non standard monitor is not a “basic fix” because again you’re in a non standard config

Usually engine limitations but there is a program that you might be able to use, if you ask in the game hub if it's ok to use, "Flawless Widescreen." I use it on FFXV.

Cannot relate, been using ultrawide since 2019 and only games that has problems are ones published by bandai namco

I am never going to have resolution higher than 1920x1080. Ultra definition makes me feel guilty. Infact I recently have been looking for old school CRTs since theyve got a nice feel to them.

It's rare that I find a modern computer game that doesn't support ultrawide, though some require trivial fixes or tweaks. Check out pcgamingwiki.com to see if a game supports ultrawide (and, if not, potential fixes). All you might need to do is edit one of the game's .ini files to manually add the correct resolution. Also, launching games on a second monitor is always an option. I rarely do this these days, but it's nice to have multiple monitors regardless.

Texas chainsaw massacre just launched like 3 days ago and still has black bars to the side as bandaid fix for ultra wide lol. I don't have a multiple monitor set up, I should have bought two instead of churning on an ultra wide.

Bandai never launches games with 21:9 support, you have to hex edit the exe file.
