Font size too small in Steam Client for PC
I can't use the Steam client on my Linux PC, because text is too small. There is no way to adjust the font size for Steam only. Even though, the internal programs of Steam uses a web browser to view web content (Chromium). So it should be able to change font size of Steam content without affecting anything else. Currently Steam discussions and shop is only on my local Firefox browser usable, where I can change size and font.

I don't ask something crazy or anything like that. Does anyone know how to change text size? Valve is not adding the functionality since a decade. It's that long I am asking for this "feature".

There is a setting for this. Go into the steam client -> Settings -> Interface -> Make sure "Scale text and icons to match monitor settings (requires restart) is SWITCHED ON and enabled then restart the steam client.

No, that is not what I am talking about. I am talking only about the font size. Not the UI, but the content of the webview (shop and discussion).

Oh. That's very easy to fix then. Right-click on the page in steam that is small -> Copy Page URL -> Paste it into your normal web browser -> View the content there. Remember: To make things bigger or smaller in your web browser hold down the left control button on the keyboard then roll the mouse wheel up or down to enlarge or shrink web content.

That does not fix the font issue on the client. Please read my post. I am speaking about the font size of the Steam client, so that I do not need to use an external browser like Firefox.

I understand what you were asking. The font and text size when viewing web content in the steam client is currently fixed and can not be modified or enlarged. The only possible solution to what you asked is what I suggested above. My suggestion is your solution, unfortunately. If you want to view web content on the steam website larger than what is shown in the steam client then you actually do need to use an external web browser.

I already use Firefox web browser, but it is cumbersome. Its 2023, why does Valve not just implement changable font size? I mean its already based on Chromium web browser. This is totaly dumb.

Apparently they chose not to use that feature of Chromium in the steam client for whatever reason.:steamsad::steamthumbsdown:

Add "-forcedesktopscaling 1.25" to the Steam shortcut (without the quotes), you can replace 1.25 with a different value.

This is not what I am trying to do. This scaling option makes everything bigger, including the UI and everything else. I just want to be able to adjust the font size for text in the shop or game description, without affecting anything else. Like the text size I can change in my Firefox web browser.

I already explained it to you in the past: You can not change the font size in the steam client. There is no possible way to do this.

I would also like to have this basic functionality of an embedded web browser.

In the UK the site should comply to the Equality Act of 2010 (EQA) and British Standard (BS 8878) 2010, in that "service providers to take reasonable steps to provide an equal experience for people with disabilities both online and offline". Not providing a facility to increase the size of the font or colour scheme within their online application seems to go against those laws.

That's not how laws work. They don't apply to things produced by companies that originate in another country.

It's true, but sometimes they care.

Case 1: If they have to comply and add a functionality like font-size for a certain country, then they could just add it to the rest of the world too. Because it would not make sense to maintain a version without font-size.

Case 2: However, for other things companies may just make an exception to that country where the trouble for them is located. A recent good example of this is Apple. They lost in court in the EU and will comply only in EU to allow sideloading other stores.
