People likely still require a battle.net account, though.
The move however is purely of desperation as we've already seen with EA and Ubisoft who have come crawling back. Overwatch 2 is currently in massive decline so it's an ideal game for them to test the water with. If it's successful and Microsoft finally get their teeth into the company, then other games may flow. Whether it will be old titles like Starcraft, I'm not so sure and if they did do this then it would be seen as extreme double-dipping especially on a double-DRM unless they are sensible with their pricing.
Blizzard are a shadow of their former selves though so all I see is another AAA company coming to Steam.
Can't say it bad because if someone hate playing game via steam, they have the option to just go to other client, and play it there so really it's not bad at all.
Now as far things goes, it's good Microsoft is able to fully inquire Activision Blizzard, and means possibly re-release of delisted games, or even doing things with IPs that been rotting to hell doing nothing such as enhance, remaster, or remake, but assume Microsoft listen to the feedback of people on the games in question. IMO I hope they listen to feedback to bring back some delisted games.
I mean its just SC2, and DIablo 3 at this point and the latter only kinda. What I hope is that it means we get soldier of fortune and Heretic 2 over here finally.
That's something our governments need to look into more
While this seems like a bad thing in general, as a PC gamer I've gotten really tired of Sony acquiring exclusives for PlayStation. Microsoft at least puts their games on Xbox AND PC
Sony are within their rights to tie their own products created by their own studios to their own system. When Microsoft simply buy a multi-plat publisher to prevent future sales on Sony, that is harming the industry. Maybe if MS actually invested in their own studios a decade ago, then they wouldn't have to snap up ones they don't want just for game pass fodder and to thwart the opposition.
Yes, they do. Pretty much all their studios are purchased. And Sony bought their way to the top with exclusives from the PS1 days on
AND the fact that they made tons of exclusive deals back in the days still stands
Now stop acting like Sony is a saint. Doesn't matter how long ago the purchases were either
