At one point in time, that "outdated os" was the latest and greatest with zero chance of exploits.
The problem is, as we find time and time again... there is always going to be more exploits discovered, no matter how up to date you are - so you really shouldn't feel safe just because you have the latest update.

The older the software, the more likely it is that we have discovered all the exploits.

I do use Windows sometimes, but more and more now I use Linux - and even there, I use older more stable releases. Having the latest update offers no guarantee against exploits.

I know but atleast win 10 or 11 can survive a 2023 or 2022 exploits attacks this is not a perfection but it's a previlige

win 7 is perfectly fine being used and in case you didnt know win 7 has been patched up to jan 10th 2023 when win 7 esu ended, since then literally only 1 cve has been found and it was entered on their list last month.

so unless people ignored the fact you could get all esu updates for free, then they are all patched up.

No. You cannot get them for free. It requires a volume license agreement. Don't discuss piracy here.

Microsoft clearly outlines that ESU licenses are not free.

Next time try researching what you are talking about.

they clearly say its not free, yet allows the bypass and never patches it, guess they dont really care to much huh, seeing as its been a thing since ESU started.

Enterprise customers are not going to risk a lawsuit from MS for pirating it. The intended customers are paying for it. I doubt that MS is concerned if home users try and use it but it doesn't change the fact the "bypass" you are discussing is very much piracy.

You already admitted you know that it cost money and say there is a "bypass" to install paid updates without paying. What do you call that?

I still use my windows XP netbooks for server stuff for home, not much online, those run perfect, still need a couple of old apps with it.. My win7 machines stiill work great; my win7 gaming machine which isnt up to date on patches which I edited, removed windo defender (which is like a virus itself.. and on 10/11 window). I've never had issues with virus's, its easy to manage.

My win7 machine gaming is still future proof for another 10-20 years . with its higher end hardware. still runs fast compared to my newer win11 machines(which are higher end too), which isnt as responsive for some reason. Only bad thing about older OS is once it outdated with evolving online apps, which you would need to keep up with, sadly, where newer games or newer software may not work. But I can still use a lot of my old favorite software which works perfect on win7 and older drm free games, just fine, even if steam leaves; still have my other machines with win11.. I still use my win7 machine a lot tho, have like 20TB worth of TV/media/youtube/anime downloads.

Only time I see virus's are from my fam and friends computers and other tech stuff, in which I have no idea how the hell they get it. But I do have a general idea how they operate, as majority of virus;'s are email/ad servers and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ website scripts (that people shouldn't be visiting). Exploits are usually easy to avoid, if you know what you are doing online and protection wise with internet browsers; you don't even need a antivirus either(lot of the time this just taxes the system in latency/higher ping for games); I don't bother with antivirus with my machines, tend to disable completely, I'll scan once a year just for fun, nothing interesting to catch, rarely see anything suspicious going on in my network/machines.

Plan to use linux after last window 11..Tired of windows honestly, Theres not much exclusive things I need it for anymore as I used to use it.

I believe windows is still free to use I think 10/11, only stuck with the wallpaper forever tho..

win 10 and 11 are free and a legit win 7 key can be used to activate win 10 and 11.

Outdated doesn't mean unsecure.
