Steam Client Opens Overlay browser window instead of using Steam Client window

So seems like after the recent update if you've a game running and you alt + tab out into the main steam client and want to navigate to profiles or through store it will start popping open browser windows in your game's overlay instead of having the steam-client display whatever you want to navigate to.

Is it me not knowing how to configure the new UI correctly or is it bug? Because I don't know if i'm using steam client irrelevant of if i've a game open or not, when I click "DECK VALIDATED" i expect the client store window to update not tab into 3 Browser tabs open in my game-overlay

Would like to know how to disable this without completely disabling the overlay.

I found a workaround. Right click the steam icon and click library. It will open the client instead of the overlay. Working for me, at least.

Just disable the Steam overlay before launching your game.
If you're going to be alt-tabbing out anyway, then there's no need to have the overlay.
