While i'm here may as well say you can use the old UI if you don't want this for now.
Make shortcut of Steam > Right Click the Shortcut (Properties) > In target field, add a space then -vgui > Apply > Run shortcut.
Yes - but it happens so often for me.. pretty much every time I do something / every day I get some variation on this black bar error at the top
Yes, sometimes other functions like "view game servers" break and i restart Steam to fix that.
I edited my above post to add info on how to get the previous UI temporarily.
This is probably the best workaround for now until all of these issues get fixed.
Thanks didn't realise it was so easy to revert! I have steam set to auto startup on OS load. Any way to get it to load with -vgui for that?
But will they patch the 1GB+ memory usage ? Not so sure about that!
Also the 'view players' and 'view servers' settings aren't so good in the new version GUI, and other things that are a bit more nerfed now kind of sucks.
I'm fairly certain they've gotten enough reports about these issues. No ETA but soon.

Does -vgui not work for you? What OS are you on? Did you restart Steam after applying it?
No it did not work for me and I’m on windows 11 pro. I restarted it after I did it as well.
Sorry if this is confusing but this is how I fixed this problem. Hope this helps some.
