Steam no longer starting with windows minimized

Anyone else notice that since the recent patch Steam doesn't start minimized on windows startup? I've had mine set that way for years. Noticing it on my two desktop PCs and ROG ally. Not seeing anything in the options to change it.

I'm almost certain that you could make this happen earlier.

Try typing ' -silent' (without the quotes) next to Steam.exe in the properties field that reads "target," when opening the properties of your Steam shortcut on your desktop.
If you disable Steam from automatically starting when booting your computer, and instead put that shortcut in your startup folder (in the Start menu,) it should start silently.

(But somehow it doesn't completely hide it, and it still shows a few screens. For example, the update screen.)

It's called advertising. They probably got a greenhorn at the helm now, on his first job, and business school taught him that in order to make people buy stuff you have to shove it into their faces again and again.

Kargor has probably guessed the situation right. I too find steam annoying to deal with now that it opens maximised on startup.

Are tight trying to loos costemors, i have had steam since it started meny yers ago, and now games on steam cost more than in shops.
and now this.
the hole idea of steam was cheaper gams and no crap now its just lets get the money and still we wait on half.life 3.

Support is dealing with problems that YOU have; bugs in the system are not their turf.

Still, Steam doesn't talk with people anyway, so they aren't interested in bug reports either. Also, they probably know their garbage is broken.

Since they did not remove the setting to make steam start with news, library, friend activity or community, it's clearly not intended to spam the default store page. (Settings -> Interface -> Start Up Location)

That said, I came here as the result of a google search for starting steam minimized, and I would very much like to see that option again. Until, if, and when, I'll just turn off steam starting automatically altogether.

My simple batch file does what you want. Valve will fix the issue in time. Seems like people just want to point fingers and blame Valve even when a fix is posted.

Your "simple batch file" isn't a solution or a fix, and how do I know that your "batch file" it isn't malicious? A fix will be that Valve fixes Steam and restores functionality that has been there for literal decades.

Do what I did and disable "Run Steam when my computer starts". Benefits: a) You've just sped up your boot process, and b) you've beaten Valve's pathetic attempt to shove their crap in your face. Minor inconvenience: when you want to play a game, you'll need to start Steam first. For me, the benefits outweigh the inconvenience.

This sucks. I was just doing an overclock session and I had to minimize steam by pressing a button.Why steam why can't you be like other game launchers and go in your home like you did for the last 20 years.I must say though I like the new steam login stuff,it is great.

This is so annoying.
But the idea to let Steam know, with opening a ticket or bug report sounds like a good idea.
First I hoped to find an answer with google, but only found people with the same issue XD
Let's hope it will be fixed soon
