Viruses are being downloaded with Steam games
In the past two weeks downloading a game from STEAM is like Russian Roulette, you don't know if that game will also have a VIRUS attached. My computer has caught THREE attached to Steam Games. so customer beware. I've been with Steam for years and never had this problem before, but now apparently, their game screening is defunct.

Want to know what the most infected games are? According to data from Kaspersky, the following games on PC were the most malware-infected games of the past year:

Minecraft
The Sims 4
PUBG (Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds)
Fortnite
GTA V (Grand Theft Auto 5)
Counter-Strike GO
Rocket League
League of Legends
FIFA 21
Need for Speed Heat
If you're talking about this:
https://www.kaspersky.com/about/press-releases/2021_lockdown-gaming-baddies-58-million-attacks-detected-over-the-past-year

You may have wanted to read the actual post before jumping in:
Over 5.8 million attacks by malware and unwanted software disguised as popular PC games were detected and prevented by Kaspersky solutions in Q3 2020 to Q2 2021.
[...]

This has nothing to do with malware IN games. And specially not about games downloaded from game distributors. Your source is about what happens when little Tim googles for 'MINECRAFT FULL DOWNLOAD' and grabs the first .exe he finds.
The headline would be strange anyway:
Need for fifo was the most infected game, the next most infected game was minecroft.

"You may have wanted to read the actual post before jumping in"

I see not only do you not have any manners, but you can not handle any discerning opinions.

All major platforms have been compromised previously.
But you blindly believe they are not currently compromised right now?

Not only are you rude, you are naive.
Consider yourself blocked.
And good riddance.

Video games have made huge leaps and bounds graphically and technologically, but so have the capabilities of hackers who are out to steal your personal data and hard-earned cash.

When you’re trying out a new game or see a new piece of downloadable content (DLC), don’t let your excitement take the lead. Hackers commonly inject malicious code into games that discreetly steal personal information.

Mods (User generated content) should be used with great caution.
Great caution.
Whatever the source.
At this point we should stop using computers at all, because software is "commonly" infected...
A substantial portion of the population is too dumb to use technology, I agree.

So the games in the list were infected on steam and ea? Is that what you think?
Where can i read this news that affects 100 millions of people?

Yes, I also remembered.
A few years ago, I downloaded one game for myself, and there was a virus in it. Naturally, I uninstalled this game.
Now, most likely, everything is fine in the game, but once upon a time I had to deal with such a situation.

Rather looks like a situation with comodo antivirus.

Maybe another word for the lack of skills to use technology could be, ignorant. Dumb, is commonly sloughed off as a normal word without much impact. Kids call each other dumb all the time and have for the 75 years I`ve been around. Ignorant, simply being lack of knowledge, sounds more ominous than it`s implication implies, and is very often taken as a direct insult and defamation of not only one`s character, but their intellect, most often taken as being told they are stupid. Many who are so grievously wounded/offended by being called ignorant, usually don`t even know the actual definition of the word. Computers, viruses and games, are all pretty much over my head.

I do however like this thread about viruses and how they pertain to games. I play a few games, and the forums teach me much. Thus, this thread lends me much info on viruses, and how to avoid. I may be ignorant, but I`m not stupid lol. just sayin:-)

I completely agree.
If we talk about the game Minecraft, then this game has
thousands, maybe millions of different mods. And, of course, some mods are infected with viruses.
You need to check the files after downloading and have the latest versions of the firewall and antivirus.

I believe that was the game I vaguely recalled. Is that the game that had almost the most basic level of 2d graphics?

Maybe. Sometimes antiviruses play it safe and give a false positive for viruses.
But still, it's annoying.

Okay let's go over this again. I'll go slow and point to things so (hopefully) you won't miss it this time.

well steam is not perfect some will slip through
In your own words right there you are claiming that some how some games "slip through" steam's security system and get distributed to end-users with a virus in them. That is what I am asking you to provide proof of: That a game was distributed through steam's download network with a virus in it. I did not ask for any proof of any mod. You came up with that on your own to side-step or talk-around the issue.
that mentality is an issue you thinking steam is completely perfect and can't ♥♥♥♥ up in some situations is exactly what would make steam slip up if they employed you windows people thought the same way until there was an update that accidentally distributed a virus, there also update that flagged everything commonly program related you have to understand there is always gonna be arms race going on no matter what

I'll have absolutely nothing to do with Epic or EGS, thank you very much.
The whole thing is an endeavor doomed to failure, kept afloat on cashflow from Tencent and Fortnite. Loose either and the whole thing comes tumbling down.
You say that but you certainly have a very anti-steam agenda here with the words you are writing. Why? Why are you trying to say negative things about steam?

That is now the second time you are yet again attempting to side-step the issue by discussing something else unrelated to what you said. I suppose I have to be more direct and try to steer your replies back on-course: You claimed a game "slipped through" and was distributed on steam that had a virus. Provide us proof of that. Where? What game? When? You claimed a thing. Now back it up with proof.

no that is related you were the person that said steam is impossible to distribute a virus through you act like we programmers can magically make a perfect protection so i should be the one asking you to prove to me that steam is absolutely perfect and impossible to breach like you claim

I do not have to prove this to you. Steam's 19 year history already proves it by it's self without me doing anything. To date there has never been a documented case of steam distributing a game through it's download servers with a virus in it that I am aware of. What I claimed appears to be true: Steam (so far?) does appear to be perfect and has never had a virus in any of it's games. Simple logic dictates that since this has never happened then they obviously have some sort of protection system inside their servers that prevents this from happening. If steam did not have protections against viruses then we would of seen news or information about one of their hundreds of thousands of games having at least 1 of them with a virus in it in the past. So far that has not yet happened. From this information we can reason that Steam does have a perfect detection and protection system.

If you have any evidence proving that what I just wrote is false then provide it to us. If you can not prove what I wrote is false then that is the end of it and there is nothing more to discuss.
