May be there's a similar tool for your PC?
Well that's not what I'm seeing people complain about. People just don't like the RAM being used and claim it's a memory leak because it's more than they're used to seeing, not that it increases perpetually until their system crashes.
I'm not seeing people posting a timelines where Steam will use multiple GB's, or tens of GB if left running long enough. So... not a memory leak by the way I figure it.
I've also seen RAM usage go up and down without restarting. You wouldn't expect a memory leak to result in less RAM usage over time. That would see to be quite counter-intuitive to the claim of a memory leak.
Now, personally, I haven't seen it happen lately, but I don't think personal experience alone would be enough to rule the issue as "completely patched".
Valve is too busy running to the bank collecting their 30% cut from developers than to hire a bunch of engineers to build a client that isn't just a skinned browser. What exactly has Valve done in the last 20+ years?
