Yep I am aware Steam doesn't work properly since the update, back button doesn't work anymore, I have a really hard time seeing screenshots, performances are very bad and the overlay is bugged.

I have high doubts about that, I am experiencing the same problems as tons of users, but I can't exclude it.

The more plausible explanation is that your system simply side-skirts the conditions under which the bugs manifest; or you haven't noticed them manifesting.

The odds of getting a corrupt file that still ends in working code and doesn't result in crashes; but rather very specifically results in a very specific patterns of runaway memory use and isolated bugs like the history stack at some point during browsing beginning to act flaky; are astronomically small.

The odds of it happening to a few dozen people under similar conditions?
Infinitesimally small.

The odds of it happening to the full corpus of Steam users that have been experiencing these issues on and off?
You probably have better odds at winning the jackpot in every lottery held on Earth. All at once.

Yes, it is more likely to be a bug caused by the new code rather than a corrupt file.

It's not just RAM usage but especially CPU usage. Ever tried opening the Steam Points shop? That makes your CPU go haywire. or when you have friendslist window open and chatwindows and wonder "why the heck is my CPU fan so loud?". When you close these windows suddenly the CPU usage drops a LOT. Sometimes i wonder if Steam is secretly mining cryptos....
Its the animations of the avatars.

Youtube has something similar useless that uses a lot of resources. The default set "cinema ambient", that the colors of the video are slightly glowing around the frame. It makes you question reality, that something like that is the default setting. As if you care if the frame changes colors and when it asks to invest 60 -90% calculation power on that. Instead of 20 for the video (example pc)

Or music players which animate the progress bar in high definition ultra pixel (or something), so just the bar makes your fan spin. Instead of a bar that jumps a little.

Untill old interface trick was working out my memory consumption stood in 2,60 gb idleing and when opening one tab or four others, visiting profile pages and several animated images, the memory usage went up to 3,60 to 4.00 gb.

Now the old interface trick got nerfed for the worst, everytime I open one...JUST ONE WINDOW TAB...the memory usage goes to 3.18 to 3.84 gb. I have only 8 gb. Survived for two months using that trick for the old interface and I was happy....now I just I want dig a hole and shovel myself in it.:cozycastondeath:

By the way cpu usage have been going up to +60% over nothing after loading screenshot manager.

I am starting to believe all that is a conspiracy to make us pay for high end PCs ahah.
*multiple instances of different malware take vast majority of those resources, under different names, could be called drm and other "useful features" eats most of those gbs, there is virtually no useful operations that require a text/html file to be overdrawn into a whole gigabyte, which was size of entire game and is still in some cases, i think at this point half of windows is different spy agensies around the world screwing up your os until it breaks into a goopy substance that throws up into a spastic hickup every moment, same as could be said of other oses i think it just amount of that on windows is a bit overwhelming at times. and all the blame goes to the operating system i guess since they produced a platform where it happens but i think its useless to blame them since os is just a software layer ie a cloth over something, i doubt it will ever be secure given how valuable personal information might be.

running PS2 games upon PCSX2 at 3x upscale (~1080p) takes less working set than steam now :V
I am feeling nausea after using 23 minutes of Steam...seriously bring back -vgui trick back untill 2024. I can not even take screenshots proper on Steam overlay anymore, the notifications are slowing down the proccess as hell.

I have some personal skepticism about the claim....
I recall seeing roughly that amount claimed from multiple accounts, but only right after that update. My PB is around 1 gig after two days of constant up time, and still climbing at the time. The 'still climbing' bit is a good sign something wasn't working as it should. But I haven't noticed it lately myself.

steam still has a bug where the client will use alot of ram and once i open the app it drops significantly. i have seen this bug a few time and the app was using 6 to 8 gigs of ram...
That happens when you use the "Web browser" part of the steam client. That is: Using the steam client to browse the community forums, the steam store, or clicking some link in the steam forums to go outside of the steam network and browse other websites. I know I'm going to get yelled at and harassed for this but I'm going to go ahead and repeat it here: There is a bug with the steam client and memory usage right now. If you want the steam client to not use excessive amounts of system ram then just don't do any of that in the steam client until they fix it later. Just set it to open to library and play games and do nothing else with it. Use a real browser for everything else.

That... is not the point ? No program should use that much ram for litteraly nothing.

You would be wrong there. Or at the very least you likely don't have any specific expertise to seriously make that claim. And your definition of "nothing" may not match with reality, devil is in those details you're ignoring.

For example there are many games that will use more than 1.2GB of RAM, games are programs.

I have an instance of Visual Studio 2022 using 1,170MB of RAM on a moderate sized project. And what is Visual Studio but a hot-rod text editor?

Firefox is using 2.6GB of RAM right now.

Laymen seem to have opinions about RAM usage, having those opinions being based on assumptions and emotions maybe isn't a good metric.
I assume he means it shouldn't take 6GB of ram to use any forums.
