Should active members of the Steam forum receive rewards?
As many people know (and some still do not know),
one of the goals of this forum is to attract new customers and try to keep "old" customers and get them to buy new games.

Therefore, naturally, the question arises, what does Valve owe us for our forum activity?

From my point of view, it is not necessary to pay for a certain number of posts on the Steam forums to a bank account or card.
Perhaps it could be any games, or just replenishment of the balance for the purchase of games of the buyer's choice.

What do you think about it?

Some people seem to be collecting bans, so in a way they are receiving rewards.
Why are you so unkind. :))

There are many more positives in life than negatives. You need to focus on positive emotions.

Comments do nothing to help YouTube videos. They aren't part of the algorithm. And only a very small percentage of YouTubers actually make any money. And those that do generally don't make the bulk of their money from the piddling ad revenue share.

no
No, this is not the answer.
Justify your opinion.
You haven't justified yours yet with any factual data or hard numbers.

It's kinda like suggesting people should be compensated somehow for leaving YouTube comments, Amazon reviews, or posting on ANY discussion forum linked in any way to a marketplace.

Our compensation is the fact that these services are available for us to use at no extra cost.
Who benefits more from this, who benefits more? - hosting owners or those who post comments and fill this empty forum or blog with exclusive content.

Of course, you say, forums can be very different, and I agree with you.

But comments on the same YouTube raise the rating and payment for advertising of video owners. You help them make money.
Ok, give examples then. Please point to some freely available social platforms that compensate people for simply using them, and explain how it makes those platforms more successful.

Nope. All I see are assumptions and suppositions. No hard data to back up anything you said.

But those aren't really social platforms. They look more like payment for submitted articles, with specific sets of conditions and an acceptance/approval process. Sure, there are sites that will pay people for submissions, essays, articles, guides etc which an organization will then use or publish but that is not the same as what you were proposing here. and that certainly is not what the Steam forums are.

Maybe I should have been more specific. Are there any public, open, forums or comment sections such as Steam, Youtube, Reddit, 4Chan, Resetera, Amazon, comment sections on any news or gaming website, that sort of thing that compensate users for posting? What are some examples of what that you are talking about that exist and could actually apply to Steam.

Ok!

Firstly, the Steam forum is not a social platform, but a regular gaming forum on a regular commercial site that sells games. This is very close to the links I gave above to other commercial sites.

Secondly. Let's take YouTube as an example. Bloggers who post their content on this site receive financial rewards from YouTube. YouTube is also a regular commercial site.

It is very difficult to draw a line between social networks and commercial sites.

They don't receive financial rewards from YouTube. They receive a portion of Ad revenue based upon the number of views that the content creator they, themselves build up through their own efforts and brand recognition. And that's only for the small portion of YouTube users who are part of the Partner Program. The vast majority of YouTube users make nothing at all.

Just to note that YouTube is also a loss leader for Google.

These are the technical details of payment.
It doesn't change the essence.

That’s really not

Ad revenue is a real tangible thing Youtube gets

Commenters on YouTube get paid nothing, and that’s what steam posts are, YouTube comments, not YouTube content creation.

OK!
Let's make a comparison between Steam and YouTube.
If you paid attention, then at the beginning of my topic I said about the active users of the Steam forum.
In fact, this is an analogue of YouTube bloggers. They create topics, actively support them, create new content regularly, and so on.

But there is one significant difference - on YouTube, such users are rewarded for their work.

Maybe social platform is the wrong term, I don't know, but I gave many examples so you should know what I mean. And no, Steam forums are not close to paid selected user-submitted articles or content.

And YouTube bloggers collecting ad revenue are not the same as YouTube viewers posting in the comment section.

It is, in fact, very easy to draw a line between social networks and commercial sites, within the context of what we're discussing.

We are talking about Steam "bloggers" who create and keep their topics up to date, and not about those forum users who leave comments in these topics.

In my opinion, a complete analogy with the same YouTube.

Maybe Steam points at the most, but I think anything else would be too much

Or maybe a Steam badge that can be upgraded like every 1,000 forum posts you make. Like you get the badge for your very first forum post, then it upgrades every 1,000 up until 10,000 or something

Something like that. I don't know. Just throwing out an idea

But the only bad thing is I believe that would cause people to spam the forums a lot
