Family share x VAC ban question

Hey all!

So my brother is coming round for a week and mentioned family sharing my account so I can have access to some of his games since he doesn't play as much as he used to.

Only issue is I know he has a VAC ban, some 2000 days ago, but still a ban nonetheless.

Will me linking my account to his in any way effect me since he's been banned in the past? Will I be able to use his games and everything or is there a chance of his vac ban infecting me?

Will I be punished for any cheating or fraud conducted by other users while playing my games?
Your Family Library Sharing privileges may be revoked and your account may also be VAC banned if your library is used by others to conduct cheating or fraud. Additionally, VAC-banned games cannot be shared. We recommend you only authorize familiar computers you know to be secure. And as always, never give your password to anyone.

VAC bans are not contagious.

VAC bans are not contagious. You won't catch one just because you family share with an account that already has a ban of some sort.


The only time you would get one, is if you actually did something to cause a ban or shared to someone else who then got a ban in one of your games.

Okay sweet, so so long as he never cheats again I'm good to go? Will I be able to play all his games online or will the game he cheated on cause me issues? (I'm not sure what he cheated on yet) I'm 99% sure he wouldn't cheat again, he's got a kid now so he can barely even plkay as is haha

The new CoDs (MW19, Cold War, Vanguard and MWII/WZ2) are not shareable and they don't use VAC either.
