Adding Microsoft Store games to Steam library
I used the "Add a non-Steam game..." many times with many games from GoG, Epic, Battle.net and even with programs like Spotify, but I can't find how to add games from Xbox/Microsoft Store games like Minecraft Bedrock or games I brought. the desktop shortcut isn't actually a shortcut to the install folder and the .exe in the install folder always gives the following error:

Game.exe You don't have permission to open this file Contact the file owner or an administrator to obtain permission

Any ideas about how to add them to my library or is just imposible with Microsoft Store games?

Just in case, I googled it and I searched in this forum but I found nothing or I don't know how to google it.

don't bother, games installed by windows are buried under encryption and permissions that make it more trouble than it's worth

There is a extra programm for that called UWPHook.
https://github.com/BrianLima/UWPHook

That can add Gamepass and Microsoft Store games as non Steam games to your library.
But no clue if it still works, has not been updated in years and both the Microsoft Store and Steam had a bunch of client and UI updates since then.
When i used it a few years ago it worked fine.

Yeah, probably I'll give up with this. Thanks for the reply!

I'll try it later, thanks
I launch Flight Sim from Windows Store without issue. Create a shortcut to cmd.exe - this allows you to view and access your entire desktop. I also use this method to shutdown the host PC remotely.

1. In the steam library select add non steam game

2. Add cmd.exe to your library located at "C:\Windows\System32"

3. If you right click and select the properties of that game link, it should read in the Target Field "C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe" and Start In should read C:\Windows\System32

4. Under Launch Options add the following line including the /k (forward slash k) for your game location .exe file Example below is for MSFS

/k "C:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Content\FlightSimulator.exe"

5. Rename your app from cmd.exe to your actual game name so its meaningful.

Opening cmd.exe gives you access to free roam your host desktop but adding the /k option in launch options just enables you to immediately launch the game app without having to go and dig for it. Repeat the process for subsequent app store games or other things on the host you want to run (literally works for any application you want to use remotely). Works on Windows 11 as of this post date. No need to download anything from github. Just old school windows command line.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
