Huh? What are you talking about, and why would I *not* make the post right after it happened?
This is my first time posting here about it.
Why would you think that? Nothing else shuts down. My internet continues to work. I can go to other sites and my computer isn't shutting down. The only thing that gets interrupted is Steam.
If I hadn't checked this, I wouldn't have made this post, I promise.
No. I did say every day. I'm not exaggerating or anything. It's literally every day. I'm at home all the time and disabled; one of my only ways to pass the time is to play games. So I'm usually on at this time every day. And like clockwork, at the time mentioned, Steam shows 'No Connection' at the bottom center of my Steam page, and only reconnects after the amount of time I said. It's not just because today is maintenance day. -_-
Thanks for not dragging it out and derailing the thread, I guess?
I find this incredibly rude and unnecessary. There is no reason to doubt what this poster is saying. There is no reason to lie about it. Sheesh. Plus, on the previous thread, you can see that other users were having this same issue. If you don't have anything constructive to say, then just let others contribute to the conversation.
Some people just don't see a reason not to do this, and have little enough life that they consider it almost a job to go around nitpicking any posts they see that they feel they have a problem with it. If either of them can't get over it and move along, I'll just report them. That first guy had me right on the verge of it too.
Was there a solution posted? I didn't see one. I remember that post; it kinda died in the water.
And again: just because I ask on days when maintenance is scheduled doesn't mean this is only happening when maintenance is scheduled. As I said to the other guy who called me 'sussy' for posting this, it happens every day, to both me and my friend. If you can explain why you two think I would lie about this for some reason, and what you think I have to gain by doing so, I'd love to hear it. I'm curious as to why people think I'd just randomly do this.
Wow. A third person showed up with the same bullsh!t. If you have no constructive ideas, and don't know outright, feel free to not reply please. All you're all doing is cluttering up the thread with nonsense.
Yes, steam goes down every Tuesday as they schedule Maintenace, this has helped maintain the site and potentially keep the bugs to a low enough level that no one notices.
But unlike you, apart from Tuesday I have not seen steam go down really. If it does on an off day or something it is unexpected issues that valve didn't foresee and thus, they have to do emergency Maintenace to fix the problem and get the platform back online.
Here are some steps I recommend trying. May not work but this is a shot at fixing this problem that so far, no one and even me has experienced.
Try reinstalling steam to see if that solves the problem, sometimes corruption can happen and mess with the functionality of the program.
Try resetting your network, unplug both modem/router for 10 minutes and then plug them in and see if at the time frame you mentioned if steam disconnects. I have had weird internet issues especially after power flashes to where the DNS starts messing up. Some sites not loading while others do and the sites relying entirely on browser cache until new images come in completely broken and loading into online based games like ROBLOX and having missing assets across games. Yes, steam disconnects but you can visit sites or even play none steam games online but this is what the weirdness basically is.
I heard this can also be caused by your ISP resetting your public IP address every 24 hours. Contact your ISP and ask if they have been doing this to confirm and maybe see if they can at least for your address have them stop doing this.
All I have for now. Seeing I am not having this problem troubleshooting is nearly impossible, but unlike other people in this thread I am willing to run you down some steps to try and resolve this behavior of steam being broken for you.
Thanks. You might be right about my ISP resetting my IP address. They're kind of bad. Unfortunately this wouldn't explain what is happening to my friend, which is the same thing. I will pass this idea on to them as well, and see if they can verify it on their end as well.
