Steam moderators are actually bots
There's no real mods on these forums all you get is the same automated message like these...

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.

We're locking this thread as it has devolved into non-productive argument. Thanks for your understanding.

This thread is no longer relevant to the initial topic, so it has been locked.

Take a look at game hubs that clearly have moderators vs these steam forums. Payday 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 are a few examples.

Virtually ALL support systems use boilerplate responses. doesn't make them bots. They are literally outsourced to a support center so if you were expecting tailored responses the failure is yours.

Was going to say what fluxtorrent did.

Support staff are required to follow their scripts, which is why you get boilerplate responses.

The people giving more tailored responses are VMods on game hubs, who are not Valve employees and not held to the same level of scrutiny, and are appointed by the games devs instead.

When you have to take action on the same kinds of violations repeatedly, you use pre-formed responses to cut down on the time it takes to moderate all of them. If someone had to type out a custom response for every action it would add unnecessary time and effort.

There are some users that use the same replies for common issues. I have a few of my own. None of that makes us bots.

Doesn't mean that they are bots. They probably have some sort of internal wiki that they reference. And when locking a thread, they likely have canned responses that they copy paste from said wiki.

You guys are getting it twisted, by your logic the automated responses you get from Steam support are real people.

Boilerplate responses aren't proof of bot activity is the key point.

I also have seen them give direct responses on occasion, usually when people are doing things like spamming illegitimate reports.

They are, you are the one getting it twisted. It's literally universal practice in most support centers across the world. You are only highlighting ignorance of how it works

The refund system is automatic unless you make a manual ticket.

Everything else uses copy/paste replies from forum moderation to support unless needing to alter the message to emphasize to a particular user to stop doing what they're doing, which we have seen not too long ago.

Copy paste, next ticket.

Yup, that's how customer service, moderation, and IT support work unless the issue actually requires something more in depth.

I want to know something, if it's illegal to make a post on the old threads, why should they not just be locked automatically after a certain date))
fluxtorrent Jul 9, 2023 @ 6:44pm
It's not even copy/paste. It's literally selected from a dropdown, or tickbox, depending on which support software they use

1.) lazy programming, otherwise old threads would lock after too much time passed between posts

2.) the OP can't necro, if the OP is the one to revive a thread, it is not a necro post
