Also a strong contender most of the Paradox Grand Strategy games like "Crusader Kings 3" or "Hearts of Iron 4". Again with a ton of mods.
Could keep myself busy for a year with any of those without a problem.
500+ hours, and there's still things I haven't completed.
Its a tough choice for me. One of my favorite games is StarWars Knights of the old republic.. SO MUCH to do and SO many classes and sub classes that I would have endless stories to follow definitely for a year.
If I couldnt play that I would maybe do a builder type survival game like 7 days to die or rust.
Thats where I struggle and asked this question. I wanted to pick up a game and play it for a while based on the answer I got.
But if I could select FEW games for year experience then I would choose: Rimworld, Cities:Skylines (maybe together with Sim City), Stellaris, Hearts of Iron, Crusader Kings...
Even with the current bugs. I've only been playing it since 2016, with twice as many hours in offline mode as in online mode. And if I had to have only 1 game to play- it would be TLD. Not sure why I love it so much- it's not like anything else I tend to play. And maybe that's why I love it so much?
Rimworld is a good pick
