Steam download still slow and not using full bandwidth.

Steam downloads alone have been poor since the new UI has been in beta around the same length of time. The downloads now start off at kb/ps and stay there for quite a while before taking a long time to ramp up slowly to about a 10th of the bandwidth.

This is on a gig connection that used to download from steam at 115MB/s

Deleted and re installed steam and nothing is helping.

All other services download at full bandwidth. Buying games is now on hold until the speeds and the UI are more professional and usable.

1) your cpu
2) your disk IO
3) your anti-viurs
4) your isp

Every over game store downloads at full bandwidth. I used to get 115MB/s I'm now getting 10MB/s after it sits at kB/s for minutes on end.

I know what limits downloads I've been using steam for years. It's been like this since the beta for the new UI was available. Something has changed steam end.

Fixed by clearing the steam cache 4 times in a row and doing it the last time while the downloads were still going instead of pausing them. Speeds back up to 115MB/s

We should not have to mess about with steam like this. I had just fresh installed steam and windows and had just started to install games. No reason to have to clear download cache especially multiple times.
