Don't ask why.
I'm confused. You have to have some tangible reason to be running an operating system that old.
I run Windows 7 not only because of Nostalgia, but It's one of my favorite operating systems of all time. Windows XP and 7 will always hands down be the best most successful and loved versions of Windows. The fact I have used Windows 7 for well over a decade, it is indeed part of my memories. I feel like I'm gonna cry.

But boy, oh boy, have I been transported back to 2010? I mean that is the year when I got my first PC and also the year when I used Windows 7 for the first time.

Imagine literally crying over an OS. (literally means literally here). When nostalgia stops you from moving on, there's an issue. Good nostalgia: Replaying an old game you once loved. Watching an old movie. Bad nostalgia: "Save windows 7 or we sue valve". Big yikes.

What baffles me is that some people try to find the "best" (air quotes) arguments to keep an old OS and none of them really are good even though believe they gave the best explanation ever for it. Like, when you can't help them, just let the flow of time deal with them.

I bet you haven't even tried using Windows 7 lol
do you think i'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 5 or something? i've used windows 7. i daily drove 7 from like 2016-2017 on my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ little Celeron N2940 laptop or some ♥♥♥♥ like that. it originally came with Windows 8.1. i have nostalgia for 8.1, do i use Nostalgia to justify running it? no. i moved on from ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and run linux now. the only reason i have windows is because of school and ♥♥♥♥. please. grow up and realise that you are doing more harm than good to yourself.
You're the one that's being rude.

You're also not the only one that ran Windows 8.1, I had an HP laptop around 2014 if I remember correctly which comes Windows 8.1 pre-installed, it has a Celeron N2830, 4 GB of DDR3 RAM and a 500 GB HDD, it ran 8.1 quite fast, but Windows 10 wasn't, I had to switch it to an SSD and that helped.

well i had 2GB of RAM and its HDD died so i had to use this old ass 250GB Seagate drive, so anything at all was slow., i never switched to an SSD until like 2022 Christmas. that's even on my Travelmate 5760G. actual 7 era hardware. runs 10 just fine. will run 11 just fine. but i do not care for 11 on that thing so i just stick to 10, barely ever use 10 anymore. i use Manjaro now.
18 Jesters already awarded

Take a hint OP

Thanks you for sharing... is that all reasons that you acting rude just for showing this to us, You use manjaro. I heard humor that it was just arch with installer. by the way operation system is the choice and nobody is forcing you.
tbh. I'd take EndeavourOS over Manjaro any day.

you shouldn't be doing something as dumb as using an OS that was the most popular 15 years ago. it is FULL of security holes too. its a choice, only if its modern, if its not modern you DO NOT touch it. simple

I have an NVidia GPU.

No extra steps required. It works out of the box. Already set and all.

not every modern is always good.
if you hate app/metro interface in 8/10/11, You can't even get rid of it. it'll be show somewhere else. like login screen start up.

modern website is very bloat and for no reasons they put alot of spying script on it.

if talk about security, if you think linux is secure. You can just create linux virus in just 5 minute and nobody will dumb enough to fell for it. even in file manager they will always asking if you want to execute that .appimage file.
as like using operation system, its your fault if you managed to mess it up.

"This will never happen to me, I am careful." Suddenly, death and regrets. I would say this is more comparable to a case of "Use an old car that's considered unsafe instead of one that's considered safe because we like the old one." I enjoy the unsafe one, I'll be fine. :D

that not what Nvidia is like on linux. thats AMD. Nvidia you have to go install manually because their drivers do not allow for being distributed via the kernel. unlike AMDs driver

You have an option to boot for NVIDIA in the live CD. This also ensure the drivers will be installed via script during the installation.

Literally works out of the box.
