Fix the adult content filter for offerings and suggests, Steam
If I wanted to see virtual porn in the form of games designed to appeal to lonely incels living in their parent's basement, I would opt in to them. I don't want to see those games. I was a teenager 50 years ago. I have no desperate need for that crap and have my preferences set to reflect that. But Steam has recently begun suggesting games that are blatantly adult content. The "players like you love" suggestions are nothing but porn. I despise crap like that. So knock it off, Steam.

What is a jester farm post? I'm serious. If you're defensive it's because you identify as a lonely incel? I can't find a way to stop cheesy porno games from appearing in my suggested games list. Why does that trigger the hall monitor in you?

Euh, you do have to opt into them. Adult Only content is unchecked and disabled by default.

well if going by the OP, he has adult only content off but still sees it (at least by "he'd want to opt in". Unless he actually turned adult content on by "accident" or whatever. I can confirm this on my mobile device sorta, I can visit peoples profiles who post adult content on the skyrim hub, and still see it on their public profile even if I'm not signed in. Just as an example. I imagine some games get through, but dunno

Then something on the servers/backend broke. Probably gets fixed after the sale.

I believe I saw a similar thread during another big sale (I think was the winter holiday one), and person was complaining about seeing adult content too. Pretty sure remember they had similar settings, the adult content turned off, or at least thats what they said. So maybe happens during the big sales for some reason, if they are being truthful anyway. Never know on steam forums since they added the award points tbh

I have it unchecked in my preferences. I have all of the options unchecked. And yet, in my offered suggestions for "players like you" right now are "games" called things like OnlyFap Simulator 3 and Lust Theory Season 1. This never used to happen. It's a recent thing, probably something they screwed up with the new Steam. Steam needs to fix it.

I have nothing against porn per se. If that's your deal, fine. But I choose not to have it suggested to me. And that choice is being circumvented. So, another question needs to be asked. Are parental controls somehow being circumvented as well? Can any kid logging on to Steam see this stuff? Because it is definitely hard core.

More and more, I find the people I meet regard Steam as a porn site.

It should be fixed during maintenance tomorrow.

I would argue that it isn't; but judging by the so-called games I'm seeing, it could very well be considered a porn site. It's bad enough that so many of the games on Steam would have been crap on my old 8-bit computer. It just keeps getting worse over time.

I hope so.

I've checked the games ant they're actually tagged as 'adult only' so they should be filtered if one has unchecked 'Adult Only Sexual Content'.

Tested on my end and they won't show in searches.

I'd double check if the setting is off. Maybe even turning it on and then off again. Sometimes a setting doesn't tick on the backend side or gets stuck.

I've check and unchecked them all multiple times and restarted Steam multiple times. The suggested games don't go away. They have a little bar across the top which says excluded due to preferences, but they aren't grayed out like other thumbnails I have ignored or which are excluded due to preferences. It is only the For Players Like You suggestions on the store page that seem to be failing the exclusion. I have NSFW and Adult Content and Nudity in my excluded tags too. Doesn't help.

Well, it appears it was fixed. Exclusions of preferences don't show at all. Excluded tags and ignored titles are still grayed. All back to normal. That was fast, so I'm guessing it was something simple.
