Why no weird games this year?

Ok, so the games have gotten worse every year, I admit. But normally there's an alien game, or detective game, or something to theme the summer sale around. Where's the weird game?

This is exactly the sort of reason I couldn't google it. Stuff like that or other games on sale just kept filling the results.

To clarify: In past years, the summer sales were themed around a topic, and there was a minigame in Steam based on that topic. More recently, they've often been thinly veiled ways to get people to look around the store (the detective one I mentioned), but you still got emotes and backgrounds and such. In past years they were full minigames people formed Steam-wide thousand player teams in and competed for top scores, such as the aliens one I mentioned. I don't recall other specific sale games, but they've done it every year since I started using Steam.
