Is there a way to remove games' achievements from my account?

There are a few games I have played in the past that I am really not proud to have played, from a time I'd personally like to forget, and nowadays something I really like doing is getting achievements from games I like and using the completionist showcase to show games I got all achievements out of.

However, every time a friend of mine sees my profile they go through the games I've got all of the achievements from and they always end up seeing such games, mainly puzzle games that give you a bunch of achievements just for playing them, meaning they're not challenging at all, and most of them are Hentai, something I really don't enjoy and don't want anywhere near me, and they associate those games with me since I have all of the achievements they offer, and that really doesn't feel good, especially when they come talk to me about those games.

These games have been bothering me because of that, so I went ahead and removed them from my account, but the achievements are still there, and I really wish there was a way to either not showcase them there or to just remove the achievements from them altogether since I'm never going to buy them again anyway, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that, and I know there are third party programs that allow you to add or remove achievements from your account but it's not right to use them, and they can get you banned too, so I came here to ask if you guys know about anything I could do. Perhaps I didn't see an option that is available? Please let me know

The third party tool Steam Achievement Manager can, though it is a "use at own risk" scenario.

Some reports also state that having a game removed from your account will remove associated achievements, though I have no experience with this.

Finally, you can use SteamCMD or the hidden console in the Steam client to issue API commands to reset achievements. I will leave the research for that up to you.

Valve doesn't care about cheating achievements with SAM, you can use it on literally any game that doesn't have VAC and nothing will happen. Some online games themselves are far less lenient about cheating achievements so you may be penalized in them, but nothing will happen to your account and you won't get a game ban in the overwhelming majority of cases. If you're cheating achievements that are tied to unlocking things in-game for example it may flag you for a ban but that's in the game on the developer's side, not Valve's. If you're just re-locking achievements on some random hentai game literally nothing will happen.

No, SAM will not get you banned. Valve has itself included the functionality of SAM within the Steam Console, so you can use a command in Steam to do the same thing that SAM does through its GUI.

That being said, this does not necessarily remove the achievements from your account. They are still counted for completion since they are something you accomplished on your account. Take this as a valuable life lesson to own your past and use it as an opportunity to educate someone else on the value of embarrassment and being picky about what you play.

no, you can't get rid of the achievements (don't try scripts and "fixes"). even if game is removed from the account the achievements will stay. play with steam in offline mode if you're not sure if you'll enjoy the game.

Those are 3 ways you can do to remove achievements. Note that achievement data cannot be removed and any achievement you unlocked will be stored into that data forever.

This is patently incorrect. Recent example: Boneraiser Minions has added an in-game option to purge your associated achievements on your account. There are API arguments that allow you to lock and unlock achievements on your account that you, as a user, can access.

To remove achievements in bulk, use SAM. This is the first and only time I would recommend to use SAM, lol. :p

You can go to steam://open/console on a web browser , which will open the console tab in steam and then all you have to do is go to the game's store page,grab the appid from the URL,then use a website like steamDB to get the Achievement API Name of the achievement you want to remove and input achievement_clear (AppId) (AchievementAPIName),so for example if i wanted to remove the 'War Never Changes' achievement from Fallout 4,i would input 'achievement_clear 377160 NEW_ACHIEVEMENT_1_0',and then restart steam. (I did get 'achievement_clear failed a couple times,but i just restarted steam and tried again and it eventually worked).

I'm really curious about this too. I never knew this Steam Achievement Manager program existed and have always wished I could remove a few games from years ago that I played once, popped some meaningless "beat the tutorial" achievement and never picked up again, bringing down my completion rate.

Does anyone know if it actually affects this or it's purely a visual thing?

gaining any and all achievements affects this. removing them - no. once earned they will be in you metadata forever (as of now)

Thanks for the answer. I really hope that one day Valve implements a feature in our profiles that allows us to disconnect certain games from our ACG that we started, got 1 or 2 achievements, and never intend to play ever again.
