The 'price hike' was global as all regions were updated to the new pricing
I wish I could go out and say that it is simply normal, considering the sudden drop of CAD in the recent weeks in relation to USD... But like I said it has been going for way longer than that. The very recent prices hikes (yes, even more) can be related to the sudden difference in this regard... But simply compound the problem even further.
My current rule of thumb since about two years is that almost every single game I look at is at least 10$ overpriced over what it really is worth. The higher the actual USD price, the higher this gap increase.
Right now, since a while (like I said in my last post) we're getting on the breaking point where I'm not willing to keep up with the ridiculous price hikes.
This is the only area that I see that no one pays attention to, and companies do what they want without being asked or publishing explicit statements to the public about what is happening between them.
Many indie devs are pricing that Valve recommended and updating pricing of old game to what is currently recommended.
In that way Valve can squeeze more money from their 30% tax.
No they won't go back to normal. Price always goes up and not down.
However if u are looking to buy the game buy it from Epic Games Store. The prices over there is still cheaper than steam. If they do increase it. Buy it on sales with coupons.
What would actually need to be heavily regulated instead is predatory tactics used by gaming companies. Those actually fall down under the law even now. They simply get ignored.
Yeah. Well gaming industry has no foresight from any government. The only time they look into is when there is controversy. It needs to change.
There are far more things that need monitoring then video games.
On what basis do you say this? Do you work in the government? Do you have data on this talk?
Why do we hear about so many incidents of harassment in the gaming industry against women?
Why do companies raise prices without even explaining to players?
Why is there a monopoly by certain gaming companies to monopolize them on one platform over another?
Why is there a company that distributes games for free to players like this? Who finances this company to compensate for the losses from publishing games for free?
Is this company living on a treasure that generates money for them like this?
Why is there a company trying to use the style of free games to attract players to its platform from another platform?
Why is there a war of statements between companies to acquire a gaming company now?
Do you think if they were supervised they could do that?
Indeed “ The game's industry is heavily monitored” xD
