Removing games via Steam Support now removes them from counting towards AGCR%?
Is this a bug or is Valve really doing this? Before removing a game via Steam Support page was basically a fancy way to hide your games. It didn't affect the achievement number you had, nor the Avg Game Completion Rate %. But now it does.

So, is this a bug or are they really sticking with this, as I didn't see or hear about this anywhere until today.

EDIT:

There is a bug that if you had a game, removed it via support but bought it again instead of getting it back via support, the game's achievements won't count towards your showcase stats. If this happens to you, contact support. Go to the "It's not in my library" option and then select "It's still not in my library" so you can send a message to support.

Thanks bron99 for this. You're amazing

EDIT 2:
Vavle fixed the double license issue.

EDIT 3:
This was just a bug it seems. Removed games have their achievements count towards your stats once again.

EDIT 4:
This was not a bug. It seems the bug is if you remove a game via support and it still counts. I dont even know what is real anymore at this point.

EDIT 5:
I legit don't know anymore. I contacted support and they said this is how things are supposed to be (meaning you can't remove achievements if you remove a game via support). Here is the SteamGifts thread[www.steamgifts.com] where I first saw this was even a thing. It's also here that I saw the OP of the post contacting support recently and them saying it's a feature but after I contacted them I was told it's not.

With Valve playing around on the back end updating many pages and stuff, achievements have been borked for months, going up/down, counting, not counting and it is making people mad.

We'll know more when they're finished doing the UI upgrades in a few-ish months.

The thing is, affecting achievements this way isn't some rando thing that does happen with the showcase. I've tested it and after you remove the games you want via support and play and earn an achievement in another game, your stats will update to exclude those games you removed. Really hope this isn't a bug, rather something they will keep.

Maybe, maybe not. We just don't know yet.

The bad part is that it broke games where you have multiple licenses. If you no longer own the original license, the game won't count towards the showcase, because of the license mismatch. Hope that if valve decides to keep it, they will at least fix that.

If you removed a license for a game that you later rebought (this was possible in the past), said game won't count towards the showcase. As an example, let's say you had a free license for a game, you removed it and activated a key. Because the original license was removed and not reinstated via support, it causes a license mismatch and game won't count. I have 11 trusted games that don't count towards my showcase for that particular reason, if you check my perfect games tab you will notice that the count is higher than on the showcase itself.

Anyway to fix this. Seems that all my Batman Arkham games don't count for some reason. I did get them for free as part of the WB "we're sorry pacakge" for the bad Arkham Knight port. I did buy again only the first three games (Asylum, City and Knight), but it seems Origins and Blackgate are also not counted

If this is something that's going to stay I've been looking to remove some bad games I don't want to have/play anymore that I got years ago. Removing them from stats is a great thing imo.

That's also been a popular achievement related suggestion on the forums, so maybe they finally listened.

Okay- I tested the idea that games "permanently removed" by Steam Support no longer counting in total perfect games or total achievements counts.
I had lost 2 perfect games, and around 900 achievements.
I knew 2 games I had removed that I had perfect games in (but nowhere near 900 achievements)- aMAZE and aMAZE2.
I restored both.
Restarted Steam.
No change in perfect games count or total achievement count.
The only thing that changed was my total games owned number went up by 2 (which was expected and how it always worked).

So...

I wonder if Valve decided to have games that were permanently removed from the store by Valve no longer count towards profile features. I might have owned licences for 2 of those, but the list of "permanently removed" games Steam Support sent me is long (and includes Demos and Free Weekend games), it will take me quite a while to check each one, if they show up in the store or on my Support page and can be restored. I know some games I own licences for have had name changes, so I have to try to find them by appID#.

These 2 games you mentioned show up in your perfect game list (14 and 10 achievements in them). You have 195 total perfect games and 13967 total achievements in 513 games. Is that what you see and is it what you expected?

Those 2 games show because I had them restored from their "permanently removed" status, as I explained in my previous post.
Prior to Tuesday's server maintenance, I had 195 perfect games, and either 14814 or 14815 achievements.

So, no. It is not what I expect to see, and restoring the 2 aMAZE games did not change the perfect games number or achievement number (193 & 13967).

However- I just started a new game, got 1 achievement, and now my perfect games number is back to 195, and my achievements number changed. So I am still missing achievements, but my perfect games count is now back to what it had been.

Server issues be server issuing.

Just earn an achievement each time you remove or restore your game to update your stats. Also, don't know on if the games permanently removed from the store thing is true. Might need to test it (have Death Stranding OG)

That restored *some* of my stats- not all. I still have over 800 missing achievements- and a list of close to 300 games, demos, free-to-play weekends and such to go through. And since at least 2 of those games were permanently removed from the store by Valve- no way to check a store page to see if my missing achievements are from those games.
It bothers me a little- I am not a "hardcore" Completionist. The only reason my perfect games and total achievement count show on my profile is because I use achievements to spell out my profile name in a showcase.

But I have friends who *are* hardcore Completionists, and I am playing around with trying to figure out where hundreds or thousands of missing achievements may have gone on their accounts- one friend lost over 30 perfect games, and 1300+ achievements, and they are quite grumpy about it right now. Her "removed games" list is three times as long as mine is. And she's not "chill" with having to restore each and every game she can to see which ones bring those stats back. And then go through removing the ones that don't for a second time.

None of the client update changelogs (Beta or Stable Client) mention this change- if it was made intentionally, Valve needs to let *everyone* know, not just have people do their own experiments to try to figure it out, and then tell their list of Steam friends, with no official documentation to verify the results.

We're many in this case. I have lost 29 achievements, and after some research and what I've read about the "2 licences problem", I think my problem is with Life is Strange. I've seen another gamer having the same exact problem with this game which doesn't count on his perfect game showcase anymore.
Maybe, cause LiS is a free to play game (at least for episode 1), if you activate the free licence and then you buy the game, you got 2 licences which are in conflict and this is perhaps why the achievements doesn't count anymore, at least for this particular game. If this is true, well it's a bug and neet to get fixed, obviously.
For other games I don't know if the problem is the same or not, one guy have a problem with Mass Effect Andromeda, some other have it with Jedi Fallen Order, thinking the problem might be with EA Play (two licences again if they bought EA Play then the games ?)
Anyway this is very strange.

I know that if you used EA Play, those games don't count anymore. You must own the game. I also learned today that if you bought a game for the second time you'll showcase will not display their stats. I'm still not quite sure what games count and what don't, but I'm down from 152 to 141 perfect games (currently 139 since i was experimenting with my Batman games to see if the licence mismatch is an issue for them, and it is)
