Time limit for refunding of game is 2 hours of play, bare in mind that counts also for time in menu.
Second game is started it start.
But sometimes you can send support request maybe to lean on if it is only 1-2 hour more but that is not usual. But it does happens sometimes.
With it being a recent purchase and only having 3 hours in it, they may grant an exception.
Both conditions MUST be met (AND) to qualify for an automatic refund.
You can ask for support to review your refund request by doing the following.
Select the game and choose "I have a question about this purchase", and explain politely why you want a refund and they will take a look.
Note: you are not guaranteed a refund by doing this as it is discretionary.
You didnt lose anything.
Steam says that is a valid refund request:
I bought a game right before it went on sale. Can I get a refund and repurchase it at the sale price?
Yes; if you have not already requested a refund make sure the purchase is eligible and submit a request here.
The issue is the play time, not the reason. If I were a betting man, I would put money on Steam granting this one...
He didn't know if or when it would go on sale and may have been waiting for a sale and finally decided to bite the bullet at full price. It's still a valid reason as listed by Steam themselves.
I didnt say he wouldnt get a refund. I didnt say he shouldnt ask for a refund.
I said exactly what I said: That he thought it was worth it when he paid for it. That means he didnt lose anything.
Why is this something to be arguing about? Its a fact. Are you going to say it isnt? If so, youre wrong, he paid for it.
There was nothing to disagree with in my post. Starting ♥♥♥♥ over nothing.
Most have no idea Valve is holding their first ever Spring sale or that it is starting soon.
As long you did not overplayed 2 hour limit.
They've never had an actual Spring Sale. They've had the Spring Cleaning events but those weren't part of the seasonal sales. It was just an event on playing your backlog, reviewing games and getting the Spring Cleaning badge.

In fairness through most years there has been "a sale" around the same time in March, which has to be how I came to that conclusion. But, thanks for the clarification.
