Steam chat opens and closes.

On WIndows 11, I've noticed sometimes, as of late mostly, that the chat window of people that I want to talk to opens and then closes for some reason.

An issue sometimes also has been the fact that if I have a chat window open in game, then on my desktop the chat windows won't open, until I close the chat windows in game. I think the same might be the case if the situation is inversed, so if I have an open chat on desktop and I am in a game and I try to open the chat in game then it won't open until I close the chat windows on the desktop but this was sort of something I could fix or at least do something about but now the chat windows are just closing as soon as I open them on the desktop and in game and I have no clue why this is and I think I'm pretty sure that if I restart steam this will not be the case anymore but I just for instance now have started a game and can't restart the client while the game is running, and I will do it later just thought to well, complain a bit about it here.

Linux here, same thing. I have to restart steam to 'fix' it (temporarily). Friends on other platforms are having it too. Annoying, but I just login to chat with the browser until it's fixed.

Win10 here and the same happens. Out of nowhere it decides do close and it doesn't open again. I have to restart Steam to temporarily fix it. After 15 years of Steam, this is the first time an annoying bug happens.

lol, i'm not sure if you're being ironic.

I hope not. Would be nice if there was at least one user who's never had issues with steam before.

Well, I get banned a lot because moderation doesn't like me and they selectively ignore a torrent of people cursing me and ban me for being cursed. Does that count? LOL

I think they count that as "it's a feature, not a bug".

its just an issue with steam itself recently.

Since posting my topic here guys, I haven't had such or similar issues but it seems that somehow let's say that the Steam client gets a bit ''confused'' and then can trigger behavior like this.

I do not know exactly why but what I feel is that it can be reproduced or is replicable some way but again since not having had this issue it is basically a non issue, and one that is also fixable in terms of restarting your (Steam) client.

I was a bit surprised to see that so many of you have replied and are having a similar issue, so in this context, thank you for taking your time and basically like me, complaining in here or at least venting a bit ;)
