And their "how to spot fake emails" told me once, the fake email i got was real.
Misleading on both ends.
You can not use "circumstance frames" at all to guess if something is fine. What people should know is, you must make sure on your own if its real. You dont miss anything that way, apart from being scammed or phished.
that may be true.. not the argument....
ignorance does not negate the fact that steam allow these
adverts and promotions that can mislead customers into a false sense of its ok... its ok...
there is a culture of sending people to 3rd party
sites from the steam platform... really simple...
be it the non removal of advertising from players
and companies wanting you to use these 3rd party sites... giving them legitimacy also...
beware...
I won't tell you what to do with your money, but lawsuits are not cheap.
Just an ounce of suspicion is worth a pound of common sense.
Shift codes for Gearbox ganes are a great example. We can find codes online, we can manualy enter them into our game. Or we can link a 3rd party shift code site to our Gearbox account, to make it easier. Totally legit, and totally encouraging questionable habits, and totally nothing to do with Valve or Steam.
It's still on each of us to keep our information secure. Valve does what they can on Steam, but beyond that they have zero reach.
My rule of thumb, I NEVER log in to anything from outside of the thing I am logging in to. Don't log in via other websites. Don't log in from an email link, ever. Log in to Steam from Steam and nothing else, I can't think of ANY situation that requires a login from anything other than the Steam application (or maybe their actual website )
We definitely don't. They've added plenty of things regulars tried to argue against.
That doesn't mean Valve shot it down. They have implemented a few things the community has been against.
