Can Game Developers on a Steam storefront forward you to their own sites to address questions?
I'm dealing with a game "American Truck Simulator", purchased it here on Steam, and any questions or input to the Development Team, seem to imply we have to sign up for their separate website, aside from Steam.

They seem to have "gamers" answering questions on Steam (who are not employees), and the moderators, generally people who also host that separate site.

Question. Are game developers who sell on Steam, obligated to Steam, or can they forward you to other websites to have matters addressed?

I personally feel, if i buy the game here, and they sell it here, they should be....here. Am i wrong on that? Sincere question (being i sincerely don't know the answer).

game developers are not required to use the steam forums. game developers can use what ever means they want to communicate with people.
Most game devs/publishers appoint regular users as moderators. And it's also pretty normal for a forum to be user-to-user. These Steam forums where you are posting now, for example, are user-to-user as well.

As far as I know it's fine to have an own actual forum for direct contact with the game devs. Especially if you release games on different launchers/platforms/devices, I can see the value of a central forum.
This is pretty normal. For example, most mmos here have separate forums and websites that are more used than the Steam Discussion itself. But I understand your thought, it'll be nice to have everything unified.
Thanks for the answers.
On PC, it's pretty uniform that the point of the device is that we can expand the communities elsewhere and utilize software where possible to give us as much coverage and leverage over topics and media. Consoles are little boxes, with bare bones software that comes with a controller made only for playing games. Where as with computers as a whole, gaming was and really always has been an afterthought. I hope that makes sense lol
