Where Is The Line Drawn With R18+ Games, Producer(Steam)-Generated Content and Consumer(User)-Generated content?

The Difference between Producer and Consumer Generated Content is just who is the one sharing it, plain and simple right?

It makes sense for the Producer(Steam) to want to limit the Users production of R18 content on their platform as that’s not what it was originally designed for. This is a place for gamers to game, then it was a place where you can get software, it evolved. Then HuniePop came in and gave steam a question. Can we discriminate against the games on our platform? Consumers were upset so HunePop stayed. Then more and more games came in with NSFW, Hentai, etc tags not meant for children. These games are all available on steam ranging between prices of FREE to 30$.

I am always curious about it, dont get me wrong i dont dislike it rather i enjoy it and this account is entirely dedicated to it. I have played plenty of hours in these games trying to maximize but i want to take screenshots of things along the way. This is no longer producer generated content but consumer generated content right? I mean it is of the game, i am just sharing my adventure but will i get banned? I have seen plenty of people doing it so it must be okay but within the rules it says otherwise. I need to know where the line is drawn, Steam Support refuses to give me a Yes or No as "we do not interpret the rules". I have been sending messages bck and forth with steam support for a month and they finally said "i will send you to another department who can help you and if you have opinions or questions ask the forums" like it was that hard to just say yes or no or ask someone for the answer on my behalf.

So for anyone who has ever experienced this, please tell me how it ended and how it is going? Have any of you ever been banned for posting R18 content? Was it screenshots from in game or uploaded from outside of steam?

This is all important. I see people with years old H-pics but i dont wanna dump 1k$ on an account in games just to get banned for someones opinion.

You won't get account banned for screenshots but they can get removed and your privilege's from posting screenshots removed if abused.

I think those rules were made before Steam got "overloaded" with explicit 18+ games, Hentai and so on.
I have seen plenty of people with M rated screenshots, on the other hand, importing certain pictures can result in issues.
In the current state, that rule could use more explanation imo.

I really get Iritated when people try to be asking NFSW games to be banned and mention nothing on also 18+ content of people slashing themselves and choping body parts.
I love all those games and I will agree there are trash games on steam. But there is no need to ban them. 18+ mark with reason... If you choose to remove it you will get all 18+ games but you still can filter what you will see....
Just separate your choice of what you want to see and what type of games and leave other people alone.
Steam is no more "overloaded" with explict 18+ games then average movies are "overloaded" with XXX movies. You just choose what you will see.

It's really simple, adult content is fine on steam as long as it can be age gated. hence why you can take screenshots of nudity etc as long as its behind the age gate.

You are allowed to take any screenshots of a game that contains nudity because its then tagged to that game and filtered out based on users settings. What you CAN'T do is say mod in nudity into a game that doesn't have it and then take screenshots of it.

Pretty much this. If the store page of the game is marked as "mature content" and is only visible if you activate "adult sexual content" in your account preferences, then its fine to post 18+ related screenshots on that hub.

It SHOULD, anyway. Otherwise, why would hentai games have a screenshot and an artwork section? I think it's just not allowed to post them anywhere else (in public) which makes sense. There is a reason why adult stuff is secluded to their own section. Should be fine.

You see this is my problem because it conflicts with the rules and if they so choose they can burn bridges. There is “Age Gating” for accounts.. any 10y/o could visit any adult account they wanted and see graphic content (as far to my knowledge).
With this in mind it is really hard to predict what may happen since support are being ambiguous and not wanting to clarify.

I see people are streaming NSFW content in the communities which is cool but then again that is tied to steam and goes through that 18+ community without leaving behind a vod on their own channel or anything of the sort (as far as I'm aware). It’d be nice if we could all get some clear updated guidelines such as are self/third party application imported screenshots/prints allowed like via puush or some other picture taking app?
What is the line between prohibited porn and non-prohibited porn?
Where does valve draw the line between consumer and producer generated content especially regarding this topic?

I know im rehashing old questions but theyre important to think about at least to me. Maybe i am paranoid, life of the party, i am sure.

I want to post 18+ content but what safety net do we have? Lose all the photos, but keep our account? That sounds like a waste of time. Whether you are already posting NSFW content or are not, i am sure you also want definitive answers to these questions like me.

This isn't speculation. It's actually pretty damn obvious, posting Screenshots of a game in the game hub is obviously fine. Posting art in the style of the game on the game hub is obviously fine.

Posting porn in the hub of a non-porn game obviously isn't.

Applying some basic logic takes you way farther, than requiring an explicit rule for any case. There's a bazillion things on this world that don't require fine-grained rules because coarse rules & logic exist. I remember explaining someone how to download models off Thingiverse: the same as anywhere else.

I would think that as long as the screenshot only exist within that games community it should be okay.

Posting it elsewhere on steam would probably get you a warning.

Thatd be helpful to see because support wont touch the subject, i tried looking through the forum but i didnt see it.
