"This game saved my life" BS and other so-called "reviews"

I don't know what's more pathetic -- the trend of people posting these contrived, copy-pasta "life stories" about how they broke up with their girlfriend and "this game saved me," or forged a newfound bond with their son late in life, or have a year to live and this game filled the void, yaddayadda -- I don't know if that's more pathetic, or the people that actually believe this insipid, obviously phony, trendy schmaltz, and encourage it by throwing awards and upvotes at it.

About as clever and inspired as plastic vomit. Disingenuous, as well.

It's just one more thing that ain't helping the overall experience on this platform.

Steam Reviews are mostly low quality garbage. All they're good for is just use the aggregate vote rating from them to get an impression of the game's reception and then I just resort to proper reviews or gameplay footage If i'm wanting more insight.

Most people on Steam Reviews will rate a game and give it a meme writeup and I wish Valve would put a stop to it tbh.

i imagine if valve removed the ability to give awards to reviews and guides, we'd see a lot less garbage.
