F12 not taking screenshots in one game only.

F12 is not taking screenshots in Sniper Elite 5.
It works fine in all my other games inc Sniper Elite 4 and 3.
Windows 11
I’ve tried:
Running steam as admin
Verifying files
Adjusted display settings inc not using HDR
Changing the storage location
Using different key bindings eg f11
Disabling GeForce overlay and background running.

I’ve copied/pasted other screenshots into the correct (original) file location and these show up as under Sniper Elite 5 in the screenshot dashboard thingy.

Nothing seems to make a difference to actually taking a live screenshot……

I’m just hoping someone can help………..please?!??!

Have you checked on steam profile for your screenshots. Ot you maybe had your keybindings with keyboard got messed up with some win shortcuts. I am guessing your have print screen on keyboard. Because I often cannot take screenshot with F12 but I can with print screen button on keyboard. But they often overwrite some keybinds.

Thanks .... I can see all my other screenshots from other games all ok. F12 works fine in all the other games. This one game, Sniper elite 5 ,does not use f12 at all for any other function ................so no overwrites or mixed bindings,
I can take screenshots in Sniper Elite 5 using the Geforce overlay and also by print screen ......... i just can't do it with Steam F12.

I use Asterisk * on the numpad for screenshots and all games work.

Lots of games have different shortcuts that you can not modify. Or computers like ctrl+alt+del or alt+tab or alt+f4...

It's because you have HDR on. Turn it off and you can take the shot.

He could maybe have customised keyboard settings. Mine has Z and Y reversed keybindings but that is mine is set for mine language but lots of others different keyboards have different setting shortcuts that you do not even know about

OP- this is going to sound like a silly question, but it's easy enough to miss- you have Steam Overlay enabled in the Properties menu (General) for the game on your Library Page?

Have you searched/posted this at the specific game forum? You might get better response.


However, here's my experience and steps that I took for the screenshot to work for me on games that had problems:
1.
Deleting/renameItOff ".../steamapps/common/<gameFolder>/steam_api.dll" may allow screenshot for certain game (i.e., Undertale).

But if you try to play the game no network offline and with 'steam_api.dll' removed/renamed, the game will not recognize your key presses for some reason.
You'll have to revert back 'steam_api.dll' for it to recognize key presses.

Yes, thanks, overlay enabled. It works on all other games.

Yeah, the only thing I can suggest is asking in the game's own forums to see if anyone else is having the same problem. Not sure if the game has a Bugs or Technical issues subforum, but if it does- check there too, to see if it's been reported or any solutions found. It could be possible that the game's keybindings have the screenshot key set to something else, either intentionally or accidentally.

Thanks - there are no cross keybindings, other players have no problem. The issue I have has been posted once before by someone else in the game's forum (and another on reddit) but without any resolution.
