Why far cry 6 still not on steam? (EDIT) far cry 6 is now on steam!
All other recent Ubisoft games have returned to steam except far cry 6, why? Any official reason? It's the only title I'm interested in from Ubisoft, and I haven't even played any Ubisoft game since I got ass creed unity from Nvidia.

It's literally in the first post in the thread:

>Why Far Cry 6 Isn't Available On Steam

>Ubisoft's upcoming game Far Cry 6 will not be releasing on Steam, though it can still be purchased on PC through various other outlets. Here's why.
Lol stem blocks screenrant, and seriously, screenrant, that site is infamous for having trash click bait articles...
No, it blocks the link because Phoenix made an error in the link (the > upfront is connected in the link, remove that and the link works fine).

There were also articles back then about games not coming to Steam that Ubisoft now has decided to put on Steam anyway (among which Valhalla). Thus such an article is hardly an explanation in todays times.

Steam "blocked" screenrant because I put a > in front of the link, it's fixed now.

You asked for an answer as to "Why [sic] far cry 6 still not on steam?". There is your answer. Because Ubisoft has decided to not release it on Steam.

It's because the URL was corrupted with the > symbol. Valve doesn't block sites because of edgy political opinions like that. They block links if they are dangerous or like in your example malformed.

Its funny to me how I just keep forgetting that game ever came out, not because I'm board of farcry, but because there is no good news site for games anymore so I stopped trying to find them, and all I ever see is steam's new game lists. it came out nearly a year and a half ago and if you told me it came out today I would think its new.

Ubisoft has made it very clear in their return that they don't even think twice about utilizing any of Steamwork's features anymore, and that means no achievements, trading cards, community items, or anything like that.
You get the bare minimum of *just* the game, and at least three launchers or EULAs to plow through instead.

So if you intend on buying Far Cry 6 on Steam then it is probably going to be literally the same as buying it directly from Ubisoft Connect, except with some more steps involved.
It's pathetic, but it is modern Ubisoft's way of "nickle and dime"-ing every storefront on PC at this point.

I believe Ubisoft views Steam as a competitor to their own PC game launcher, so they want to distance themselves from it.
Links that others provided may be not as informatively correct. First off, the dates that were posted were before Ubi's project cancellation, and finance situation. Secondly, they were before crapload of ubi games coming to steam and still coming. In my opinion it will come even when ubi says it will never come. Why? because things change. Ubi is currently not doing that well and thus why most of their games is now coming to steam to milk money off us. Is it working? Yeah. They don't care about steam reviews, they already got reviews off earlier launch. Once FC 6 sales are equivalent to lets say watchdogs legion or something, it will come to steam. Reason AC Valhalla is on steam is because it made a billion in revenue. Ubi believes it will sell well on steam too. I dont follow far cry 6 that much, but unless devs got more content to release for fc 6, they will not release on steam until game is done in content wise. Dont think I ever saw a game on steam from ubi that adds more content in terms of story or expansions or w/e, but patches are normal.

So yes FC 6 will come to steam, but not anytime this quarter or so. It seems to be doing well with its exclusivity.

Hello,
I don't speak English, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes. To answer the question, the game Assassin's Creed Valhalla was released on November 10, 2020, it appeared on December 6, 2022 on Steam, a little over 2 years later. The game Far Cry 6, meanwhile, was released on October 7, 2021, so logic would dictate that it will be available around November 2023. Conclusion: A little patience :) I too am waiting for this title with a lot of hype.

Except that it may just be a coincidence, at that time Ubisoft basically dumped their games back on steam with Valhalla, the timing may just irrelevant.

Even if they release it on Steam you'll have to use their launcher, I don't see any difference tbh.

A major difference that people often neglect to consider or mention is : not giving your financial related data to yet another company. This is one reason why some of us became steam only die hard member.

And as a result even though you have to use their launcher, last I checked, if you try to launch a Ubisoft game registered via linking your Steam account, it will force you to launch from Steam as they still need to run the Steam DRM check.

It is surprising how it has not come to steam considering all of the other mainline titles of ubisoft have come, and far cry is their second biggest franchise after assassins creed

I don't see an official answer from that thread.

that article is heavily outdated and has invalid information, it was from back when ubisoft left steam for the epic store and it was before far cry 6 even came out, but in november ubisoft returned to steam because it was not making profits from epic, and it brought almost all of its big titles here apart from far cry 6 which is really strange

I thought I might return to this thread with some good news for people who are looking to add newer Ubisoft games on Steam, which were previously excluded from this platform: https://www.pcgamer.com/four-more-ubisoft-games-are-headed-to-steam-this-summer/

Having said that, I really would not hold out any hope of Ubisoft actually doing anything productive with these releases, like adding achievements, or setting up Steam cloud sync, or anything else requiring even a smidgen of effort on their part, but we can always hope.
