Another adult game rejected by Steam (Factorial Omega)
I'm disappointed but, sadly, not surprised.

Tweets from the developer

Regardless of your thoughts about having explicit games on the platform, I think we can agree that the rules should be applied evenly across the board. Judging by this situation and many others before it, that doesn't seem to be the case.

I'm aware. C;H was only brought up as an example of Valve reversing their previous decision.
Reversing decision on another product is irrelevant to the current situation involving a pornographic game & depictions of minors in sexual situations.

You say this when the characters in the game rejected look less child-like than one currently on Steam for sale.

That's the issue. Steam isn't consistent with it's rules and regulations.

So the dev can't modify the content and try to get it approved again.
what should they modify? sex is the core gameplay mechanic.
I don't think they SHOULD modify anything, I'm just saying that even IF they wanted to it wouldn't make a difference.
They could remove the adult content and make it a free patch like other games on Steam, for example. However the message they sent to the developer it's pretty clear about not accepting resubmissions.

Do not get involved in a Developers matter with Valve.

It had to go through the same manual approval process that the game the topic about got denied during.

That's the issue. They went through the same process but were treated differently without any real explanation.

You seem to think I have a problem with the game that I showed as an example, I don't. Just pointing out the inconsistency with their process and guidelines.

They provided an explanation to the developer. They have no obligation to explain to you why they chose what side of the line this time. You're under some delusion that Valve owes you an explanation. They don't.

They already said depictions of sexual conduct with minors will not be accepted.
"Even in a subtle way"

Posting here in regard to a Valve-to-Developer communication only meant for the 2 parties will not create any change.
It worked for Chaos;Head Noah. Of course, that was a bigger game and had a whole campaign for Valve to reverse its decision. Still, it's important to raise awareness in my opinion.
You know the people for Noah said it had no adult content, if Valve heard this I can already see stuff going south.

Then they shouldn't have guidelines if they don't adhere to them.

Considering their explanation contradicts what is currently in the store.

They *are* adhering to them. They just aren't doing it in a way that is satisfactory to you. And that's fine because you don't run Valve. You aren't the one making the decision about what gets on the store. So no one at Valve needs to adhere to your interpretation of the guidelines.

So you're telling me that the game I displayed does not have child-like characters engaging in sexual activity?

Its not worth asking as the game in of itself tries to avoid it entirely by using "its a robot" excuse, its another "their a 5000 year old small person" situation which this is directly coming from the developer themself.

I don't. I don't own the game. Should I make an uninformed judgement about a game because some random user on a video game forum says it shouldn't belong on the platform?

I guess you don't know that screenshots exist on the store page?
Valve staff approves or rejects games, their moderators have nothing to do with it.

Edit: Also, nothing of value was lost.

Please get off your high horse, all your comments are belligerent while everyone is very civil with you.

@SlowMango what i noticed through the years that the guidelines on Steam are open to interpretation where each moderater uses their own judgement to accept or refuse a game. Also while minor playable characters can commit genocide on a giant scale without scruteny, a game which for example use the 3000 year old dragon or in this case the robot trope get banned asap, out of fear for outrage maybe?, or just because there is a bit of a crusade going on with certain moderaters who have a very strong dislike for Japanese anime like games.

So another loverly witch hunt I see.
Game will be allowed when the dev remove the offending material. And yes it is hilarious that todlers nuking cities is acceptable, and genocide is barely worth noting but sex. Yes Sex has always been considered a taboo for a significant portion of western civilization for a not inisgnificant period of time.

Not gonna change until the last bastuion of the old fuddy duddies withers awa way. Until then., Valve makes the calls on what they will and will not sell. SImple as.

I'm more suspect of the dev for leaking private conversation like that. Might want to get an ammendment in the ToS about that Valve
I'd just choose not to do business with ANY developer that thinks social pressure should get them what they want. Good enough reason to not host them right there
