Can non-adult games get adult dlc?
First: A mature game is not a adult game. You can see mature games by default (like witcher 3 or call of duty) but steam asks your age. Adult games you have to enable the option on your steam settings and those normally are games that included non-censored sex scenes (this includes the genitalia)

Simple enough.

My question is how does this work for mature or non-mature games? Can they have adult DLC?

For instance an ESRB 10+ anime game, could it have adult-only DLC that would put non-censored sex scenes on it?

Does steam have a stance on this as well?

Like the Nekopara Visual Novel games.
The standard versions are All Ages releases with no adult content but all 4 main games sell a 18+ DLC on Steam that upgrades the games to the pornographic adult versions.

PS: You can only see/buy the DLC if you have "adult sexual content" activated in your account preferences and if you dont live in a region that bans adult games on Steam in general like Germany.

It technically could but won't. Not only would that completely alienate the supposed intended audience, it wouldn't make any sense to do so.

It does

Can you not read? The first four words answer your question. Then he explains why it won't happen.

The same way it would have normal DLC.

People that ask dumb questions, get reasonable answers, then question the reasonable answer.

I didn't ask if it was economically viable for it

Oh yeah, I forgot those games existed.

They do literally do what OP is asking.

But why would you create something that was destined to lose money?

Thanks.

The adult version being released in 2018 resolves some things I was thinking about, I had nekopara in my head and I remember the adult patch not being avaible on steam. So the recent changes to adult games allowed them to have this adult patch on steam instead. Amazing!

And my answer wasn't based around economic viability.

It literally say they can as the first thing.

Nah they did release their stance on adult games but they have no stance on adult dlc for non-adult games, however given the answer to this topic it seems it's allowed.
