Steam remote play overlay not showing up

So I am trying to remote play Terraforming Mars or Pandemic. On the friends list clicking "create invite" does nothing. I can right click my individual friends and start remote play, but they see what I see but then it just becomes as if I broadcast or streamed it. There is no option for controllers on the overlay or their chat.

A week ago I was able to see the remote play overlay without issue, I could create a link etc. But not today and its seriously frustrating.

I have tried: Unistalling steam, re-installing it.
Disabling remote play, restarting steam client, enabling remote play
Disabling steam overlay, restarting steam client, renabling steam overlay
running steam in administrator

Me too, I have the same problem. I was too angry because I do all to fix the problem, but nothing happened

it looks like it was a wave of people who all experienced the same problem. Guess remote play is down temporarily. We ended up using a 3rd party remote play

What do you use instead of Steam Remote Play

we used parsec for our gameplay... but with parsec being essentially a remote desktop my other players could basically see everything i saw on my screen.

Is "Parsec" good? I kinda want a good performance for my friend

it worked pretty well when we did Terraforming Mars.

Just remember that when you use it basically you are letting who ever you send your link to take over/share your mouse or keyboard or whatever. So only share your parsec link with people you trust The default setting is that who ever joins has control of a controller, so its designed more so for gaming.

If you don't want to wait for the fix, you can use Steam Remote Play. Use the beta version on Steam's setting / Account. And enter Big Picture Mode Steam, then launch your game and Shift - Tab to open overlay, invite your friend and it will show you a Remote Session Window. Goodluck
