Steam link and apple tv
Hi, I have a general query. I would like to connect my laptop and Apple TV to my smart TV. Additionally, I don't want to use my WiFi to connect my computer to the Steam Link; instead, I would like to use a HDMI switch and connect both the Apple TV and computer to my smart TV. If I do that, will Steam Link allow me to stream games without the internet?

Some of my friends said, The Steam Link will create a local network between your computer and smart TV, allowing you to play games without an internet connection, If I use HDMI cable to connect both the devices (laptop and apple tv ) on the samrt tv. Is that true?

Should I use a HDMI Matrix switch or just the HDMI switch?

Also, I'm aware that steam needs a basic internet connection to play games, which I have.

Why even bother with Steam Link if you can run HDMI?

In Germany, we say "from hinten durch die Brust ins Auge", that means something in the lines of "doing eye surgery by going through the thorax", going the long way around if the short one is right there.

I get it but I have most of my games in steam, so that's the reason
Also, I'm thinking using the steam link app would be great convenience to play games from computer.

You know that you can install Steam on your PC, run Steam games on this PC, and display them on the TV via HDMI, right?

How does Steam Link come into play there? Why don't you want to display the game via HDMI from PC to TV?

Agreed, simply use HDMI to connect the PC directly to the TV, or the switch.
Why add possible unnecessary points of failures by overcomplicating it by adding SteamLink to the mix?
