Get the low end model and upgrade the ssd.

The bonus of the highest model is mainly the anti-glare screen. The issue is those are usually fuzzier than just a glass screen. You can also order the 512GB screen kit from iFixit which is officially from Valve.

If you don't want to do that but want the anti-glare, then yeah, it would be worth it.

I've heard that the anti-glare screen is sort of a 'love it or hate it' thing

I don't hate it but I don't love it either.

I don't like how 'unsharp' it makes the images look. I have an iPad and used to have a paper-like screen protector and finally took it off after not being able to bear the slight fuzz it gave everything.

look up a video how to upgrade the SSD drive. if you think you can do that than get the 400.00 model.

You can upgrade the SSD, but keep in mind original SSD was picked for a performance reason. It has some issues with RF compliance.

No it doesn't. Otherwise they wouldn't be selling them in the US.

Also, swapping the SSD won't affect performance unless it's a fake SSD.

Actually, it did. I saw a video talking about how they picked a specified SSD to meet the RF compliance requirement.

They put the other one in it because they couldn't get enough of the other one. Otherwise there wouldn't be Decks with the original advertised SSD in them.

Many first wave customers got one with the original SSD that was advertised.

Valve didn't make SSDs themselves and find good small SSD is difficult.

That's what the rf shield is for. It isn't glued to the ssd.

No one said they made it themselves. The parts to manufacture the original SSD became hard to get so they switch to another one. It didn't violate any compliance. If it did, there wouldn't have been Decks with the originally advertised SSD in them.

It also isn't some crazy difficult task considering they are making plenty after the swap. An M.2 2230 SSD is only hard for the general consumer to find since they are usually only sold to manufacturers.

It is but only to prevent rf issue. To make a small SSD, a manufacturer have to follow every books. Otherwise rf will be an issue, not ever rf shield can do its job.

It's Valve's own from the ssd in the Deck itself.
