Keep in mind that adding a non-Steam game is merely adding a shortcut, it doesn't give you a Steam version of the game.
If you used the add non Steam game then you didnt add the game to your Steam Account, all you did was create a shortcut. The game probably still needs Epic.
You'll find out if it needs epic or not by trying, but the 'add game to steam' is only a shortcut & nothing else, if it needs a launcher it is going to try starting it when you go to start the game.
