I hope the Steam Deck 2 goes for better battery life instead of better specs

Honestly, you would think with all the electric technology we have, batteries would be better. Here we are in 2023 and batteries still suck in all industries.

Considering SteamDeck uses a Zen2 CPU with a customized RDNA2 chip, a SteamDeck using a Zen4 CPU with RDNA3 would be a an interesting combination in terms of energy efficiency and performance.

Well with how the first Steam Deck only just came out, it will be a long while before a Steam Deck 2 comes out.
Also higher graphics requires stronger processes, which drains the battery faster.

Yeah probably, it would be interesting if developers would start targeting the Steam Deck like console games so they could get more performance out of it.

The limiting factor is always the battery life due to which game or games you play and the hardware contained within, draining the battery.

I'd rather have better specs with similar battery life for a Steam Deck 2. That being said, I wouldn't mind a fatter Steam deck that had a better battery as an additional option.

Yeah, I think you forgot something in your equation. Stronger, faster hardware need juice. Battery capacity did improve but so did the hunger of what it's been feeding.

The problem is with the technology that needs more power as it advances, and unless we find some "exotic" way to store energy in a small format, you will need to plug your deck in the wall for longer sessions, or have a car battery on the side.
