Does the cheapest steam deck have a nvme slot?

Just wondering if you can buy the tier 1 steam deck and upgrade it with your own nvme ssd? Also are there any other variations between them?

Yes, you can do that. It has all of the slots it's just not upgraded.

Ahh that's great because I already have a very nice nvme drive. I assume it supports a 1tb size?
So the 2nd and 3rd tier are just the same device but with a bigger nvme drive? Cheers

Yes it does. I upgraded my 64 GB Steam Deck to 1 TB.

Just make sure whatever you get is M.2 2230. It won't take anything bigger.

Saving 100 bucks in the best case, sacrificing warranty and losing 450 worst case - I'd think about that. Not to mention that you save a lot less if you want a quality ssd.

They are but it reverses the burden of proof. That's how i learned to buy my electronics at trusted e-shops certified shops since they can apply the necessary pressure to force your right without the legal risk.

Nonetheless you still have the risk to damage the device by accident, stupidity, electric discharge which voids the warranty.

I don't wanna rain on your parade, just take into consideration that things could not work out as intended. Many people changed the drive but if you don't have a small form factor ssd on stockpile I'd rather save a few bucks for the 512 gb model. Just my two cents.

save a few bucks? a 512 SSD is 50.00 and paying for a 512 model is 250.00 more than the 64gb. thats hardly a few bucks.

This was my thoughts too.. and I already have a nvme 2230 drive so it seems like I'm better getting the base model and fitting it in. Cheers

Yes. The difference between prices is the type of screen and the community goodies. But I didn't touch the initial setup.
