This is all you needed to say to prove to everyone that it is a waste of time responding or trying to educate you.
Thank you for confirming my comments even further.
steam can pay me by lowing the price of steam deck and making vr games free, other then that i don't want steams money however the intellectual developments that steam can help the gaming entertainment world are far more valid then currency.
You need to talk to HR.
"Give me free things Steam."
*checks notes*
$350 MSRP
Good luck getting that below $200
People wanting a lower base deck price have been repeatedly told Valve has stated it is "painful" to sell at the base price. Anything lower is most likely going to be a high net loss, which means there'd be zero point in selling it.
The continued claim by OP is also why I wonder if this is just trolling and not having a legitimate discussion on the subject, given the frequency of conspiracies.
Developers set the price of their games/software.
Anyway, it's a handheld device and should be treated as such with the expected performance of such. Trying unsupported things is strictly on those that attempt it.
I own one. It runs games natively just fine, including AAA games.
What you saw previously was just the Steam Deck menu. If you go into the menu to browse your library while a game is still running, the "play" button changes to a "resume" button. You can also just hit the power button mid game to suspend it and put your Deck to sleep. If you hit the power button again, you'll pick right up where you left off.
I wish I could just come to your house, put a Steam Deck in your hands and let you have a go. It's extremely obvious that you want one, can't or don't want to pay $400 for one, so you're desperately looking for reasons to justify to yourself that you don't actually want one. The very definition of sour grapes.
Sure, there are plenty of things that can be improved, the thing is, you will see the "premium" parts back in the price, at a much, much higher price.
Looking at the raw specs only tells half the story. The software was made specifically for the hardware which makes a world of difference in the performance.
lol ok just give me the inner workers and screen then for the 200 and ill make my own plastic junk case
it is currently 250 at best buy
I see it as $299.

Even then, a $50 price drop just 3 months after release? Doesn't seem to be catching on so well. People just don't like streaming their games, they prefer to play natively on their own hardware, like the Steam Deck can do.

Nvidia Game Stream - Dead
What's next?
Do you want to know why it’s 250.00? Because it’s garbage and still new on the market, yet some place is selling it at 50.00 cheaper
